This quiet resort was perfect for us after a long day driving and climbing Scafell Pike. We decided to book a spa stay style accommodation and were not disappointed. Lovely quiet location the place was spotless and very comfortable. We would have easily stayed longer and will make a note of returning in future. We arrived quite late but still was easily put at rest from restaurant staff that getting a table for eating would be no problems and encouraged to go shower relax and they would take care of us when we were ready. Spa facilities are lovely good quality gym. Staff are professional polite and helpful. We ate in Purdeys bar lounge in the evening and food was very good. Also breakfast was buffet style but excellent, yes you do need rise from your chair and self serve holiday style but all the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. We went on a Tuesday so resort may have been a lot quieter than at weekends. A note driving from Wasdale Head to Langdale was very interesting would have spectacular if i could have got a second to look up. Give your self plenty of time or stick to A roads the long way round.

We wanted a nice hotel in the Lakes to wind down for a couple of days and where delighted with the Langdale. The room was very nicely appointed - the only down side was it needed hooks to hang coats and the wi-fi was hit and miss. Very nice bathroom as well. The breakfast was superb and the food we had in the hotel was very nice. We did eat in the fine dining restaraunt and thought it was really interesting and enjoyed it immensely We also ate in the spa and had a very nice meal.

The location is fantastic - just next to Elterwater.

The only negative points we had was we ate in their pub one night and that was average in comparison to some of the great lakeland pubs around the area. Also parking at the hotel is a little tight - to say the least.

I would happily stay at the Langdale again - expecially if you can get get a deal on the room.

All the staff we interacted with where extremely friendly and chatty .. so no issues !!

Room Tip: Please note that if raining .. you will get wet as the hotel rooms are a short walk from the restaraunt.

Location very good, room acceptable, staff generally helpful. However, a distinct lack of management staff, staff seemed left to cope with everything, including a number of complainants which made me feel very sorry for them. Food in Purdey's fine dining restaurant was anything but! Decor was similar to a tired old pub. Menu was a strange mixture and very overpriced. Terrace restaurant was a little better but still average. Breakfast was one of the worst we have ever had, cheap, badly cooked hot food with no service whatsoever. Please get rid of the toast machine! I do not expect to stand in a queue to make my own toast at a 4 star hotel. Very disappointed as I had booked this as a present for my Husbands birthday. Didn't use pool as it was very busy and noisy. Would not stay here again and would definitly not reccomend it.

We have stayed here several times over the years, always in wintertime and we cannot fault the place. The rooms are modern and clean with comfortable beds, good showers and decent teas and coffees which restocked daily. This place is ideal for walking the dales and lakes in the morning and relaxing in the pool and Spa of an afternoon. We always visit Wainwrights to eat of an evening, a open roaring fire, excellent food and a well stocked bar with lots of guest ales to choose from are always welcome on a winters evening. Top tip if you do go in the winter months take a torch or two, the roads are unlit, it takes less than 5 minute to walk there but car drivers don't see you to the last second on the narrow roads. Breakfast is very filling and there is a wide variety to suit all tastes. If you want to stay in a relaxing lovely part of the Lakes with added amenities such as Spa treatments and a pool with several restaurants to choose from then this is the place for you.

We went for my 30th birthday for one night
Various emails exchanged but no knowledge of my birthday on check in or in the room
Unusual - usually a note / card etc left
Purdeys restaurant did however bring out a plate of mini desserts with happy 30th written on, which was lovely thank you
Their food was gorgeous and great service
The room was nicely decorated but very small- 114 I think it was ...
Could not fault how clean the room was.
Drinks very expensive
The best part of the day was walking down to wainwrights pub. Friendly staff , great open fire

Breakfast in the hotel was excellent but so warm in there !
Would we return ... No . Can't put my finger on what puts me off , strange atmosphere ? And not near anything
