“Beautiful cottage in great location”
Reviewed 18 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Well equipped cottage with plenty of space. All rooms were beautifully decorated with character features. A really cosy living space. Ideal for a break with family or friends. Walking distance to Ambleside.

“Top Choice for Large group”
Reviewed 28 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The cottage is located in a nice and quiet uphill side of Ambleside not far from the town center. it is embraced by the traditional English countryside lands around. Loved the cottage from the first step inside it. The whole house was well decorated and setup with full vintage character. Small details were very thoughtful. We are in a group of 6 adults and 2 infants. All rooms are very tidy and clean. They are large enough for the kids to explore and play around. The kitchen is new and well equipped. The garden is beautiful and the top view is the best. What we liked the most was the cottage is literally at the best starting point of the famous Kirkstone Pass. So you can just easily start /finish a ride on the spectacular Kirkstone Pass from your front door! I will strongly recommend this cottage and will definitely choose to stay here again in the future. The owners Brenda and Phil were also very friendly and helpful throughout. Money well spent. Top choice.

“Charming cottage in a perfect location!”
Reviewed 11 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

This holiday cottage felt more like a home than a holiday let, the rooms were all beautifully decorated and the master suite was incredible. Perfectly situated for walks and for local amenities, although the hill up to it was certainly a challenge! Would recommend to both family and groups of friends and would definitely come again.

“Beautiful quiet cottage”

Myself and a group of 6 friends stayed at Seathwaite Cottage for 7 glorious nights. I had one of the large rooms upstairs with a lovely sofa area near the front window where I could l read and look across the fields and hills which were full of cattle. Sadly the weather was only good for 2.5 days out of the week but the rest of the time we really enjoyed spending time at the cottage. The garden was a pleasure to sit in and the facilities in the cottage were second to none. It is a short 10-15 minute stroll to Ambleside where there is a huge amount of choice of restaurants. It was a very steep walk back up to the cottage but in the end we decided to use local taxis which cost £5, so with 4 in the car it worked out very cheap! I would definitely recommend this cottage if you're looking for a quiet, serene break. Brenda gave us very clear instructions before we arrived and made us feel very welcome. We can't thank you enough for a wonderful week.

“A lovely quaint cottage in the English countryside at a brilliant location”

We were a group of 6 friends who traveled to Lake District last week and stayed at the Seathwaite cottage in Ambleside for 3 nights. The host had specified the exact directions and also how to let ourselves in , so it was easy reaching there. The cottage is absolutely lovely, and well equipped with all amenities. The host had kept tea, coffee, sugar, oil, etc so it was fun cooking our breakfast each morning. We loved spending time at the cottage and also went for walks from the cottage. The location suited us as well, it was walking distance to the town center.
Only recommendation to fellow travellers would be to not go in big cars (like we did !!) as the lanes around the cottage are narrow and it would be easier with a smaller car.
I hope we get a chance to return to this beautiful cottage again!

Thank you for your review; so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to hear from you again

To clarify for future travellers:

The lane is off a 2 lane width road which leads up to the Kirkstone Pass

The lane is quite a wide single track (wide enough for refuse lorries) and is a dead end. There are very few vehicles passing the cottage as there is only one property beyond us on the private drive.
Other neighbours below us access their properties driving large vehicles without a problem.

The 2 main parking spaces accommodate 4 wheel drive vehicles and estate cars. The car port is also wide, and accommodates a car with a smaller turning circle. One guest manoeuvred a large estate car into the carport.

There is also a grassy lay by in the lane

Hope this clarifies accessability

“Delightful cottage in idyllic setting”
Reviewed 4 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

A return visit to Seathwaite Cottage and once again it was well worth it. An exceptionally clean and well-presented cottage, with comfortable beds and extremely well kitted-out kitchen. Ideal cottage for four couples who meet up each Easter. The close proximity to enable us to walk into Ambleside with it's restaurants and shops, whilst not being actually in the town is perfect.

A lovely cottage. Really well equipped in a great location just above Ambleside. It's one of the most relaxing places we have been and the views over the fells at the top of the garden during sunset were just fantastic. Will be returning again!
