Today we had fish and chips here. Friends saw that it is gluten free and as I am coeliac a visit was a must. Four of us ate indoors and each one of us enjoyed our meal. The portions were generous and it was cooked especially for us so was piping hot. No complaints but lots of praise for the staff who were pleasant and obliging.

Thank Brenda C

We had a lovely meal of fish and chips here - the food was perfectly cooked and the service was efficient and very friendly. Being able to sit in and enjoy the wonderful views of the lake was an added bonus. And we were able to park easily outside - not something you can often say in Ambleside!

The haddock was over priced and fish inside was good but battered undercooked and soggy on the inside. The chips were hard bullets and inedible and the vinegar had no flavour whatsoever.
Left a bitter taste in more ways than one.

....and also surprised by comments about the cod because as with most of the West Coast they were chiefly offering haddock! Not too pricy, well cooked, though I believe cooked in beef dripping so not very good for the heart or waistline, but tasty and hit the spot. No complaints apart from the dripping, so e of which managed to congeal on my coat and was a bugger to clean off!

For the first time in nearly 3 years I had gluten free fish and chips and very tasty it was too.
Was a bit apprehensive because I wanted it to taste like real batter. I was not disappointed.
Rang in advance and was freshly cooked. No complaints whatsoever
