I visited Chesters By the River this weekend with my 2 1/2 year old twins and Mum and we had a fantastic lunch. I never usually use Trip Advisor but I thought the staff did such a fantastic job that I had to comment. It was incredibly busy (Saturday lunchtime) but the staff could not have been more polite and efficient and the food was incredible... Really unusual choice of flatbreads, stone baked pizzas, healthy salads and filo tarts... and the cakes to die for! It is the perfect way to while away an afternoon and then visit the shop next door which sells lovely gifts for children/babies/friends.
As it gets so busy I would recommend getting there early if you are travelling on a weekend with little ones (or those who are older and need a seat quickly).
Definitely a real find if visiting the Lakes - the interior is so vibrant and fun and makes a refreshing change from the tearooms and tourist haunts of Windermere! I'm already planning our next visit...
