“As good as ever.”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

The experience of visiting Chester's is acknowledging when you arrive is that it is very busy and that you will have to que for your order for some time. However the wait is worth it. It is articulatley prepared and tastes superb. The cakes are to die for and the portions are excellent for the price. Given the nature of this place - it is not a table service restaurant - I can't grumble... But a little bit of attention to customers and a little time spent inspecting the toilets would make this even better.

“Good food after a morning's walk”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

After a full morning's walk we arrived at Chester's. Quite buss but we got a seated and the food arrived quickly. Indiviidually baked flatbreads with toppings were delicious as were the sausage rolls. . The cakes, pastries and scones looked lovely. Pity I'm a diabetic. A little expensive but well worth a visit. It has a large shop as well.

“Very good, but getting more and more expensive”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We always pop by Chesters at least once when visiting the Lakes. Usually on the short walk down from Elterwater. As ever, the food and service are excellent, but over the past few years the price particularly of the drinks has been getting more and more expensive.

The homemade cakes and savouries are not to be missed, and this year we discovered the wood fired oven and the Pulled Port Flatbread was a definite favourite.

“A hidden gem with the best chips, ever!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

We found this place compeltely by accident but were mesmerised by the selection of wonderful cakes so stopped to sample their delights (pork pie with homemade picalilli, wonderful homemade sausage rolls, and the largest slices of carrot cake and scones you've ever seen). A huge case of 'food envy' watching other people's meals arriving (once we were already full)meant we returned the following day for lunch to try their wonderful stonebaked pizzas and flat breads and particularly the chips!

It's not cheap, but then no food in the Lake District is....and it's very hard to find good quality for the money, so I was more than happy to pay the prices they charged, for a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Will definitely be recommending and returning.
