We visitited here 5th-7th July for a special occasion, we were put into one of the hideaway rooms which are gorgeous and so peaceful they are very modern and spacious. The hotel is lovely to o but only went in there for breakfast which was delicious lots of choice to choose from and the staff are always asking if your ok and need anything else. In the reception there is also a large selection of dvds that you can borrow and take to your room. The location is great too just a walk over the road and your on the lake from with some little shops, cafes and pubs.I will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Would definitely recommend staying in one of the hideaway rooms.

We have visited the Lake House before however on this occasion opted for one of the 'hideaway' rooms situated behind the main building. The room was spacious and well appointed, even including a large floor standing fan which was very welcome given the warm weather during our stay. Our room had an outside patio area with a table and two chairs which was a perfect place to relax with a drink after a long walk. There is an ice machine near the front door of the main building along with ice buckets, perfect to put your drink of choice 'on ice' ready when you return from your walk. The wrought iron table would have benefited from a little refurbishment to tidy it up however it did serve the purpose. Staying in the 'hideaway' room means that you only really see the staff at breakfast or if you need anything. Breakfast is taken in the main building, the self service food is replenished regularly and there are daily specials which are cooked to order. The staff are friendly, helpful and always greet you with a smile. The hotel is situated at Waterhead, only a two minute walk to the lake side or a ten minute walk to Ambleside town centre. We have stayed in several establishments in Ambleside and this is definitely one of the better one's providing you don't mind being a short walk from the town centre shops and restaurants. The drive leading up to the property is quite steep when walking in/out.

Room Tip: The 'hideaway' rooms are in a separate block at the rear of the main building and whilst the...

My husband and I were driving throughout the UK, and Ambleside was a lovely place to stop for the night. We called in and booked a 'hideaway room' which is self contained and adjacent to the main building. It was a wonderful spot with a gorgeous view across to the lake. After travelling for a long time, it was nice to be able to unwind with a nice dinner down the road at the 'Wateredge Inn' and then come back to our room to watch a movie (which we hadn't done for quite some time). The reception desk has a reasonable collection of dvd's for guest to borrow (free of charge).

The Lake House was a nice getaway, because of having the 'hideaway room' we came in and out of the driveway, never saw other guests or staff. The room was well presented and when you did see the staff, they were always polite and friendly :)

Room Tip: Hideaway rooms are located away from the main building. Nice and quiet with great view across to the...

My wife and I spent 3 nights in room 5 (Superior Room).
ROOM: Our room was very spacious. It didn't feel like we were in a hotel or B & B, but rather a well appointed living room. The room and bathroom were immaculate. We had two chairs in front of a window which gave us a nice view of the lake and fells. The bed was very comfy.
BREAKFAST: The morning breakfast was always kept fresh and the staff always had a smile for you. They have plenty of tables to eat at, so no rush for breakfast.
NOTES: The Lake House is within walking distance to the town of Ambleside (10 minutes). It's a 1 minute walk to the boats and ice cream on the lake.
The Regent Hotel had Bar food at reasonable prices if you don't fancy a big meal. You get a 10% discount for staying at Lake House. It is about a 2 minute walk.
The staff are very friendly and are very helpful.
Bring your own alarm clock if your on a schedule, since one is not in the room.....or use your phone.
Well that's it......hope it helps.
Two happy Canadians!!!!!

Room Tip: Room 5 - Superior room is double the size of regular rooms.

Managed to book a last minute 1 night stay & totally satisfied from start to finish. We occupied Superior Room 3, a Four Poster Double with great view facing the Lake. The bed was super comfy, and duvet equally so. The Bathroom was finished to a very high standard too. Location wise, it's a 10 minute walk to the centre of Ambleside, but conveniently situated for the boat launches nearby. Breakfast was excellent, and the hot buffet was replenished regularly. They offer daily specials too, and I'd highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. The only word of warning....if you're walking down the path through the garden to the main road, you literally exit on the main road. If you're not careful, you could easily have a close shave with a passing car. All in all though, a great stay and would definitely visit again.

Just spent the weekend here with my partner. Hotel in a lovely location and very close to the lake but thought it was a little expensive for what it actually was. Our bedroom was big but the carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for some time and the wall hangings (picture and two other things) were covered in a thick dust, as was the intricate woodwork around the sofa in the bedroom. Bathroom was modern and the shower was great but the shampoo / shower soap looked like it had been filled up with water. Nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom - in need of a shelf. We stayed for two nights and on the first day we had a teapot but when housekeeping refreshed the room after the first night they didn't bring the pot back and they also did not lock our bedroom door (key entry and not card) so anyone could have walked in. I realise this sounds like moaning for the sake of it but the small items in a hotel are what makes the difference. Breakfast was nothing to shout home about either.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 5 which looks towards the lake and is a good size bedroom.

Thank you for your review, we are somewhat surprised at some of your comments as nobody has mentioned them previously only the carpet, which has a fleck in the pattern and it does look as though it hasn't been vacuumed but we can assure you this is not the case as we take a pride in the cleanliness of the whole building.
