“Will defiantly return!”
Reviewed 20 February 2013

Stayed for three nights from sunday 17th february. This was the first time staying in the fisher beck and it was very friendly, clean, and of a high standard. Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice with food and drinks. Service from the staff and the owner was friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Perfect location, short walk into the centre of Ambleside. Loved it and will defiantly be back!

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to write your review. We really do appreciate it.

We are very fortunate indeed that we are so well locate being just about half way between the lake and the shops and most amenities...just a five or six minute walk in either direction.

And we are so glad that we seemed to have ticked all the boxes, giving you a warm reception, good service, clean & comfortable room and a hearty breakfast.

Thank you again and we do hope we will be able to welcome you back to The Fisherbeck in the not too distant future.

Kind regards

Gillian Lane

Thank you so very much for your rather lovely review. Having been involved in this industry for almost 35 years I know full well that despite all your efforts you can't suit everybody all the time so it is very comforting to know that we get it right sometimes.

We are just so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay and we do look forward to welcoming you back to The Fisherbeck, we hope, in the not too distant future.

Kind regards

Even better than the first,we had a room with a spa bath, recommended after a long day out walking! The breakfast is superb, plenty of choice and lots of it,you get constant refills of coffee and juice, lovely!
It's in a great location, within 5 minutes walk of Ambleside itself, and although its on a main road,it's far enough away so you don't hear the traffic.
We struggled to get the wi-fi working but strangely enough it worked on the Kindle fire but not the iPad!It never really bothered us as to be honest I usually end up wasting far too much time on the net anyway!
We took advantage of their 3 nights for 2 offer, well worth it if you've got the time.
You can also use the gym/spa facilities of a nearby hotel,we didn't as the weather was fine so we took advantage if that while we could.

Room Tip: Both times we have stayed here we have had a room at the front, one with a balcony, the other with a s...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review and that you indeed ventured back for a second visit.

The balcony rooms are indeed great favouites with so many of our guests. No matter what time of year the views from there are quite enviable. And I was pleased to hear that even in February the weather was good. In fact, we really do have far better weather than is often forecast....and if not there is always the spa/health club.

Thank you again and we do hope you will think of us again should you be planning a trip to Ambleside.

Kind regards

We booked last minute for one night stay on Saturday for our wedding anniversary. We were offered a choice of 3 rooms, obviously the best room with the best view was the most expensive, it was discounted to £95 for us. The bed was comfy, linen nice and clean and crisp and beautiful bathroom however for that money I would have expected a bottle of water and at least a packet of biscuits each. Breakfast (like others have commented) on is served between 8.30 - 9.30, no choice of table as each room has a specific one. OK, the food is amazing, however the atmosphere isn't good! Staff are stood waiting and watching, there is no background music and its all a bit formal. However all in all a nice stay.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review.

I have to admit that your visit in early February was just a few days after we re-opened after our annual winter closing and I was determined that 2013 would not see us dispose so recklessly of endless numbers of water bottles so a few days after your visit our own filtration system was fitted and re-usable bottles arrived. We now offer our guests as much filtered water as they like without the environmental impact.

I was also determined to re-source biscuits that are made as locally as possible, of good quality & with a variety of flavours so each person who stays has their own packet of three cookies, replenished everyday.

Thank you again.

Every creature comfort you could wish for. Extremely comfortable. Very well equipped with quality fixtures and fittings, even provide linen table cloth and napkins. Good location. We had the pleasure of staying here for a week over New Year, spectacular views over Ambleside and the fells beyond. The N Y fireworks in Ambleside and beyond were amazing sight. This accommodation ticks all the boxes, very friendly welcoming owners. Highly recommend this bungalow. We will certainly be back.

Thank you very much indeed for writing your review of Mill Rigg, one of our 3 self-catering homes.

We tried very hard to make it a very comfortable & relaxing space so that visitors could enjoy the quite stunning, virtually all round views, any time of the year.

I must admit I'm rather envious that you had such a good view of the New Year's fireworks. They must have been quite spectacular from that elevation.

Thank you again and kindest regards.

My husband and I, along with our two teenage daughters, stayed at Fisherbeck in late September. My next trip across the pond will be straight to the Fisherbeck, and then north (we did the south last trip). I trust Raymond will know exactly where to send us. I woke up this morning craving the Fisherbeck's Fruit Compote--Raymond explained to me how to make it. Thanks for wonderful memories.

Hope you are managing to make all the stuff for the fruit compote breakfast. If not you will just have to make reservations with us again. I don't think I would have much success sending it to you in America!!!

Have a wonderful summer.

All the very best

Myself and my partner stayed at the Fisherbeck for 4 nights in November. Everthing is lovely about the place. We had a fantastic spacious and clean room. The owners, on realising we were there to celebrate my 50th birthday placed a free bottle of bubbly in the room. A lovely touch. The breakfasts are fantastic, and all the staff are very helpful and polite. It is only a 5 minute walk to get the boat to go over to Bowness. The day it rained we went to the cinema in Ambleside to watch the new James Bond movie. There are some brilliant walks from the hotel. If you are heading to the Lake District you must give the Fisherbeck a try.

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to write your review. We really do appreciate it very much. And we are so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay in Ambleside to celebrate your significant birthday. Or as a friend of mine says...."It's just a number ".

We really are well blessed being located just a 5 or 6 minute walk to the lake in one direction and 5 or 6 minutes in the opposite direction to the shops, cinema & most restaurants with some very good walks right from the front door.

Thank you again and we hope we will be able to welcome you back to The Fisherbeck in the not too distant future.

Kind regards
