“Perfect get-away location”

As others have pointed out, the self-catering cottage is attached to a working sheep and dairy farm approximately 6 miles from Ambleside. Yes, it's a little remote, but that was the attraction for us... amazing scenery and beautiful walks literally from the front door. I personally had no problem in finding it via SatNav, the nearest shop and pub are only 3 miles away, and we brought most of what we needed on the journey up.

The inside of the cottage is pretty, and was very clean for our visit. There is a well-equipped kitchen, a dining table and a comfortable 'crashing' area. The large inglenook fireplace contains a wood-burning stove - great for cool evenings, although the radiators are very efficient too... The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, and there was space to hang and put away clothes... exactly what we wanted.

Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, without being overbearing. They made us feel at home, but able to get on with our family holiday.

It was a little more expensive than other options we considered, but the feeling of being at home and the amazing location made it (for us) well worth the extra cost.

Our 5 and 10-year-old loved it... as did we.

Stayed in the property for 4 nights. It needs real cleaning. The ceilings of the bedrooms are full of dirt. The rug, sofa, floor and carpets are filthy. Would not recommend anyone with asthma to stay in this property. Very sorry to write this as this property is located is situated in such a wonderful place and cleaning can make a real difference.

My Dad and I spent a week in the self catering cottage attached to Fell Foot Farm. It was absolutely perfect and I would have no doubts in recommending it. There are two double bedrooms, with gorgeously comfy beds, plenty of scalding hot water (which was very welcome after some chilly walks when all I wanted was a long hot soak). The open plan kitchen/living room is very cosy and has everything you need to prepare meals - in terms of appliances as no food is provided and you need to stock up before arrival. There is a proper wood burner stove, which would make it lovely and warm in winter. It's also the ideal spot to do several of the Wainwright fells straight from the front door without needing to drive anywhere. The only downside, as others have mentioned, is that it is quite isolated and therefore if you want to eat-out you're a two-mile walk from the nearest pub, which in winter is challenging with the dark windy roads. On the flip side it means it is beautifully quiet and if what you want is to get away from it all, this is the place for you.

Fell Foot Farm is a beautiful little sheep farm in a remote countryside area, we had GPS so location was easy after a fun drive through the winding green hills. (The location itself is 5 stars but we only gave 4 due to it being remote, it may be hard to get to without a car or GPS). The owner was very friendly and welcomed us in in when we arrived just after dark.
Our room was small but very cosy with a low roof, big exposed beams and big soft bed.
Small but just enough for what we needed. Settled in with a cuppa in our room (kettle etc provided) and went to bed with the sound of the rain on the roof outside.
The bathroom was shared but as it's a small B&B we didn't have any trouble getting to use it, suited our needs fine. The house generally was just really cool, all the little things from the iron window latches to the milk delivered in glass bottles like when I was a kid, it all felt really earthy.
Breakfast was varied, delicious and filling. Sadly we only stayed one night and had to leave relatively early so we only had time for a quick walk in the morning where we saw the (very cute) sheep being moved to another area. The countryside is spectacular, fresh air and stunning scenery, apparently the local area has been used to film movies in and we could see why. Would love to go back and stay longer.

We stayed in the B&B rooms and agree with previous comments on location; it's stunning and perfect for hiking. It is a working farm more than an established B&B hence my following observations:

As for the rooms, don't expect too much. The ensuite room is small but has all the essentials (minus the hair dryer). Nice view from the window. Bathroom is extremely small, paper on ceiling coming off and held together by tape, plus damp carpets.

The room with shared bathroom has a view of the back of the building with scaffolding during the duration of our
stay.

The breakfast room is a dark cold box which has no charm at all.

Breakfast was homely and filling though.

Another observation, there is no day room for visitors so the only place to go when it is raining is the three shores inn in little langdale (1.2 miles away).

Could be a great place one day but needs a lot of investment. Maybe the cottage is better?

Myself ,my wife and youngest (grown up) son stayed there for a week in May, in the self catering cottage. What a delightful place in a wonderful part of the lakes ,the place has real character. While Fell Foot is a working sheep farm the accommodation was spot on. Good clean bed linen, decent kitchen area very homely with an old world charm that cannot be faked.
It is isolated, but thats one of the reasons we chose it. Some wonderful low level walks from the front door as well as being amongst some of lakelands finest fells, just be aware that the roads leading into and out of Little Langdale are very narrow. That aside we were made very welcome by the owners and would not hesitate to recommend it to other walkers and nature lovers.

The rooms are very nicely decorated and comfortable. I stayed in both whilst I was there.

The location is awe inspiring if a little remote. To get food you need to walk 20 minutes to the nearest pub (which does very nice food).

The breakfast was very nice and the hotel owner is friendly and accommodating.
