Really dont know what to say, just really bad. Food bland, greasy and overpriced, coffee awful Staff dont care ,owner doesnt seem to care as she seems to be a legend in her own lunch time, i am sure at one time this place was good once, it had to be to be here so long. Whatever they had in the past has been lost.

“Pretentious Twaddle”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2010

We went here after being advised by our hotel that it was not to their taste. The menu did look interesting if a bit pretentious in the descriptions but we gave it a chance anyway. They managed to squeeze us in right beside the till where we were subjected to various staff being told off by the more experienced ones for making mistakes, not delivering orders on time etc.

At least two orders of Duck were sent back for being "nearly raw".; having been there for a while we notices that everyone else had bread on their table except for us; the food was average at best; appalling at worst; after finishing the main course we forlornly waited to be asked about desert - in vain, so we asked for the bill and were told to pay at the door on the way out.

Oh and Lucy herself appeared about mid way through to ask if all was well; hmmm. She then deposited herself at the desk, like a widow spider, to receive payments; was this system to prevent diners leaving tips to the staff directly? I think we should be told

“Child Unfriendly!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2010

Dined at Lucy's on Saturday 3rd of July, and despite the restaurant being almost empty my party that included two well behaved girls of six and nine were shoved in to a corner beside the toilets. We asked to be moved but were told the restaurant was fully booked - even though we said we would be out by 7:30. When we left just after 7:30, the restaurant was still less than a third full with no one in our section at all. To add insult to injury, a glasses arrived with lipstick and other stains. Simple message - Don't eat at Lucy's, especially if you have kids.

“Might have been good once”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2010

Menu suggested that once this place was part of a rebellion in favour of good food in Ambleside. Now it's something that needs rebelling against. Poor, tasteless overpriced food. Seemed popular, but I'd suggested that must be ignorant tourists (like us) or people not that bothered by the quality of food.

“A disgusting mess on a plate!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2010

Waited 35 minutes for starters when they arrived I had a rubber band in my rocket garnish. The waitress who served the main course was covered in sores around her mouth. A smell of excrement wafted from the toilet and put me off the main course, which promptly arrived seconds after the starter plates were cleared. Clealy the food had been heated in a microwave, snap crackle and pop stylie. The plates were as cold as the owner, Lucy, who, when we complained, through clenched teeth snared, 'would you like a complementary bottle of wine on the house.' The bottle of wine arrived luke warm. I decided I had had enough at this point, paid the bill and left, appalled at the incompetance of the staff at Lucy's madhouse!
