Arrived after a heavy rain shower on a Monday evening, getting to the restaurant at around 7:15. We were seated immediately and menus brought over with no delay.

We then sat with no one coming over for a drinks order or anything before hearing a member of staff telling another table that there was at least a 20 minute wait before ordering food. This gave us plenty of time to look at the menu!

Around 15 minutes later we ordered, I ordered the potato cake (sweet potato, sundried tomato and possibly spinach?) and my partner ordered the steak. We ordered olives to fill the time whilst waiting for the food as we were told there was a good 20 minute wait.

The olives were nice, nothing special but good to fill some time. When the mains came they were tasty, my potato cake was heavily seasoned, the steak was cooked medium as requested. The vegetable sides were very good.

For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding and rice pudding.

There was a strange moment with one table requesting that the door was closed as it was cold. The waitress stated that there was a sign saying the restaurant was air conditioned therefore either the door had to be open or the air conditioning on!! Very strange since it was blooming cold outside!

By the end of the evening people were being turned away as the restaurant had 'run out of food'!!

It was however, a good meal (slightly chilly) but the food was tasty despite the wait.

My family had a delicious lunch or cream tea and the food was excellent. After trying to find somewhere that sold scones without currants and sultanas, this little gem had exactly what I wanted. The service was very good but the value for money and size of the portions were great. Would definitely recommend.

A great little place we found to have a spot of lunch, We had been walking about for a while & found this place down a small alley. Too well hidden.. yet easily found as it was busy. Lovely staff & a lovely setting.

We went to Sheila's on a Saturday night with our 5 yr old. It had been a red hot day and the restaurant had air conditioning which was much needed too cool us down. After our many visits to Ambleside this was our first meal here and it was lovely. Plenty of choice and beautifully cooked meals when they arrived. I would say portion sizes are smaller than The Priest Hole but the meal was equally as nice. We only had 2 courses each our meal was lovely. Would visit again, especially on a hoy day for the air con.
