We had heard good reports of this hotel from a friend, so took the opportunity to stay for a couple of nights when visiting other friends. It must be an enormous challenge for hotels in very old buildings and the Allerdale has coped so well, adapting the historic to incorporate modern facilities. The room was really interesting but comfortable.
Breakfast was tasty with a good choice. We didn't have a chance to dine in the bistro on either evening of our stay, because of other commitments.
Most importantly, everyone was so very friendly and pleasant.
It was our first visit to Cockermouth - a lovely town with great small and interesting shops. Loads to see and do, and I'm sure we will be back.More
