Perfect location for a town centre stay. Rooms could be cleaner and bathroom floor updated. Rooms are a bit different which is nice. Breakfast Ok, everything from Aldi, which is not a bad thing but everything basic range. Would stay again due to location.

I stopped for one night in this hotel on 11th July, i was meeting colleagues for a meal in the 'Spice Club' (5 mins down the road - Lovely Indian food!!).

The hotel is ideally placed in Cockermouth being just a little bit off the main drag. The owners and staff were very friendly and the process of actually getting to my room was trouble free.

The decor is ever so slightly tired however; this is accentuated because of the historic age of the building. There is not a right angle or a flat wall in the place (Really nice).

Breakfast was good 'but'... They've also found the same crockery shop as all of the mainstream hotels!!!.. Please get normal bowls, cups and glasses! Its a myth that we'll cost more if you get bowls that hold 3 weetabix as opposed to only 1.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to the traveller or the business person. Don't be put off by the fact that it's over a £100 cheaper than 'The Trout'!!

Really comfy bed also!

Room Tip: Just ask to change if you get one you don't like (be polite at all times)

I want to like the Allerdale Court. It's quirky, has loads of character (every room is different) and the breakfasts are pretty good. The location in the centre of town is perfect. Parking can be tricky but I've found a nearby space on the street every night this week. The problem is that it feels neglected; everything looks and feels tired. My room shakes every time another guest walks down the corridor; the windows rattle as cars drive by. Last week I had a better room to the rear of the building - much quieter.
Still, it beats a Premier Inn.

You can often get a room here in Cockermouth when all the more central Lake District locations are sold out. And you can do a lot worse. For Buttermere and the NW Fells it is as handy as anywhere. The main oproblem with this place is the parking sitution. The hotel has none of its own. The street outside is only usable evenings and Sundays. So it's the pay and display round the corner. That aside, there is not a lot not to like. Clean and comfortable with very friendly, helpful staff.
