I've found country hotels can be a bit 'hit or miss', this one's definitely a hit. From the moment I entered the door, the staff were welcoming and friendly, couldn't do enough for me. I live in SE Asia and so travel alot, and it means a lot to have a genuinely warm welcome (great food and a chic amience doesn't hurt either). If you find yourself with a free weekend and feel like a great country hotel, do yourself a big favour and book a room; definitely a real find:)

We had 5 rooms for the night, and only one of them had hot water.
We all had to use one room for a shower, which threw our schedule out.
My room was not properly cleaned, (there was a pair of old socks next to the night stand)
On complaint the management diddnt really seem to care and only offered 5% discount.
For a hotel the basic amenities such as hot water should be a minimum, and guests should not have to accept excuses about boiler timers not being re-set.
It's not our problem.

Note: we reported it the night before and no action was taked as there was still no hot water in the morning.

The breakfast was ok, but nothing special.

So 'IN MY OPINION' ... including discount £80 for a twin room, What a rip off!

We've been back to the Allerdale Court for the first time since it re-opened after the Cockermouth floods. Its great to see it back on its feet again and even better than before. We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the whole new look to the place. The redecoration has certainly spruced the whole place up. The restaurant menu has been revamped and the quality of the food is excellent, with some really good wines on offer. The hotel fits in well to the newly revamped market place and is a very pleasant place to stay near the centre of the town. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Cockermouth for business or leisure reasons.
