Stayed here for just one night, lovely room apart from huge cobweb and spider we found later. Comfortable bed.
The food was brilliant all home made and lots of it at good prices.
Breakfast was also good.
Will come back here again and do recommend it.

Room Tip: we had the front room no 9 with resident spider. others might not have him!!

Enjoyed our two night stay here in October. Found staff friendly and helpful. Hotel clean and comfortable and homecooked food tasty and ample portions. Large lounges with lovely comfortable leather sofas.Would definitely return.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in October 2013 in the Broughton Craggs Hotel. We enjoyed the hotel very much. It is set in lovely grounds with red squirrels and peacocks wandering around. The hotel itself is a grand old house which is a little worn and tired on the inside but makes up for this with bags of charm and is comfortable and cosy. There are some lovely pieces of furniture around the hotel and many interesting paintings and objects. All the staff were cheerful, welcoming and friendly at all times and added a lot to our visit. We had room 7 which is a twin room which was comfortable and clean with towels changed daily as you wished and lovely crisp white bedding. I suspect when the weather turns even colder the bathroom will be a bit chilly but the bedroom was lovely and warm. A hairdryer and tea making facilities are supplied. The breakfast was really hot and well prepared and there was plenty of it to set us up for a days exploration of the area. We ate from the main menu one night and from the carvery the second night. The food was a little plain for our taste but was well presented and decent quality for the cost. We will be returning to this charming hotel the next time and would not hesitate to recommend it to any of our friends.

Room Tip: Room 7 was the first bedroom next to the stairs on the first floor so handy for the bar etc.

It wasn't a good start, couldn't find the place in the dark. When you approach from the 'wrong direction', you can easily pass it - even with sat nav.

We stayed on a Sunday night, so had the carvery, no choice but we were late and it was ok. Garlic mushrooms - wouldn't have again but partners prawn cocktail was good. You should be getting the picture by now - stuck in the eighties!!

We had a premium room - no table lamps, a strange light on the wall over the bed - please note Broughton Craggs - the housekeeping staff either need a kick up the backside or sacking. I don't go around a room like a contestant from 'four in a bed', however, I couldn't say it was dirty but not upto hotel standards. That was the general feeling throughout.

The grounds are beautiful - an ideal place for a wedding - which they are geared up for. There must have been a wedding that day or the day before, as on the front terrace, ashtrays overflowing. The front entrance needs tidying up - that's the first impression.

After breakfast, which was good, used the downstairs ladies facilities. Must have been painted recently as it took me five minutes (and a broken nail) to get out!!! Once again, signs of a party, a wine glass half full, bin overflowing, etc.

Don't be put off by this review. The welcome was warm & the staff attentive. You never know, if my partner proposes, might have my wedding here sometime - but by then I'll be using a zimmer.

My wife & I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the wonderful Broughton Craggs Hotel. The hotel is full of character & is ably run by the hard working Dan & his family.Leather sofas abound in the 2 relaxing lounges, an invitation to sit & chat with fellow guests. The food is good home cooking at astonishingly reasonable prIces. The grounds are well kept even in Autumn & the peacocks strutting around the place only added to the ambience. Our room was perfect, clean with well made furniture as befits the 150 year old building.
My wife & I were celebrating our wedding anniversary(44) & met two other couples also celebrating their anniversaries, Linda & Bill (50) & Jan & Ian (20). To them we would like to say a big 'thank you' for your company as you all made our weekend one to remember.
To Dan & the family also a big 'thank you' with the promise that we will be returning.
If you want to have some 'me' time, then this is the place to visit.
