Although down an unprepossessing side street in the town this place must be searched out.
The entrance and bakery downstairs lead up to a very welcoming coffee house on the first floor.
Attentive staff made us very welcome, the menu is supplemented by daily specials on the board.
If you have travelled on the continent and wondered why the coffee is never the same in the UK you will not be disappointed at the Coffee Kitchen. Obviously someone has gone to great lengths to research and refine the brewing process, great coffee coupled with a good selection of homemade breads and cakes etc.
One slight suggestion to improve the general atmosphere, perhaps some air conditioning? I know that when we visited it was very hot and humid but I am sure that the customers and staff would have appreciated some fresher air!
Living just down the road I understand that the Cumbrian weather is not always so extreme, just a suggestion for your ten year plan!
