Claire and Steven, owners of this hotel are brilliant, the lady called Claire is a brilliant and perfect host, this lady will do her upmost to make your stay the best she possibly can. I had a ground floor as I'm disabled which was clean and tidy and a very good size. The hotel breakfast was again a very good size and Claire again done her very best to make sure everything was to a high standard.
The hotel is in a very good area close to the lake. And a very short walk to the bus stop which took you to Keswick the number x5 (go out of the drive turn right and go to the end of the road about 2 minutes and you will see a bus shelter on one side and a bus stop on the other. You need the bus shelter stop to go to Keswick).
A perfect hotel, friendly, great atmosphere, myself and my wife gloria would definitely return to the Ouse House hotel. Thank you claire my operation went well and I will be keeping an eye on jean and gloria

I booked last minute direct on their website and received instant confirmation. The email mentioned paying a deposit and as I’d not been asked for any card details when booking I gave them a ring and also to advise of a later arrival time. I tried a few times over the next 3 days and left an answer phone message as well as emailing. I was worried we wouldn’t have a booking when we got there as I received no reply but there was nothing to worry about. The owner seemed very busy but was happy to greet us on arrival and show us to our first floor room with a fabulous lake and fell view. The room was basic and there was no wardrobe or hanging space which let it down as there was room for one but the bed was very comfortable. We had a basin in the room and a private (lockable) bathroom across the landing with a bath/hand held shower. There are tea/coffee making facilities provided in the room as well as a bottle of water. The WiFi is good and the signal was strong on the first floor. At breakfast each room had an allocated table (explained on arrival) and there was a selection of (mainly tinned) fruit, cereal and fruit juice. We opted for the full Cumbrian breakfast which was local sausage, thick bacon, egg, hash brown, mushrooms and tomato along with toast. It was delicious and set you up for a day in the fells without being outfacing.
Parking is plentiful and the guest house was easy to find. It’s just across the road from Bassenthwaite sailing club and access to the lake is a couple of minutes walk down the road. The nearest pub is The Pheasant about a 10 minute walk away across the main A66. There’s an honesty bar at the hotel (pay when you leave) at reasonable prices which closes at 10.30pm so it was never noisy at night with late drinkers. With a bit of tlc here and there this could be a real gem.

Had a lovely stay the couple who own this guesthouse are very friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble for Claire. The guesthouse is clean the room was a fair size. Breakfast was lovely. Bassenthwaite lake is very picturesque. We had a lovely relaxing stay and drank a lot of prosecco Claire calls us the prosecco girls :-). Would definitely go back.

Everything about this stay was fabulous. Claire was a complete scream and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless, breakfast delicious, company lovely, doggies a joy and Steven delightful. Oh and dinner on Saturday night was delicious! Get the picture?!

A full five stars and no negatives at all. Thank you for a lovely time and hope to see you next year!

Stayed overnight after visiting lakes district easy acess just of A road. Good onsite parking. Lovely views of lake and hills from our 3rd floor room at the front. Very small ensuite shower/toilet, hand basin in room. Lot furniture in a small double room. Bed comfortable but pillows too hard and flat so did not sleep too well. No restaurant onsite walked 10mins across busy road to inn for dinner but fully booked even though a tuesday, had to return and use car to go to nearby distillery although this was worth it the food was great.
Breakfast made to order was ok.
