Thank you for your review. There was a lot of extensive research conducted in 2004 to make sure that we got the appearance and setting of the house correct. We hope you will agree that the result is excellent and really helps you believe that you have been transported back to 1770.

We have a variety of excellent talks available on different days of the week that help to highlight the environment that Wordsworth grew up in and helped to inspire his later work.
Thank you for your review.

Very homely feel to the house that Wordsworth lived in as a boy. Costumed characters gave insight to how the family used the house and the gardens are lovely.

Thank you for the great review, Andy. We get a lot of comments about how warm and friendly the house is, and the gardens are such a wonderful spot to sit and watch the world go by.

We were told by friends that nit would only last an hour, we could have spent three there. What a great, and knowledgeable bunch of volunteers the NT always seem to have. Nothing was to much trouble . It is worth getting an audio guide. This explains everything in such detail. And it is nice to be told that you can sit somewhere a\s opposed to "don't.
Well done and thank you to the team at Wordsworth House.

Wordsworth House and Garden was one of the first National Trust properties to encourage visitors to touch objects in the house in order to learn and get more out of their visit. The audio guide is a new development for this year, and its good to see it going down so well, and adding to the fantastic knowledge of our volunteers.

The house is lovely and well worth a look around... The volunteers bring it to life especially the cook in the kitchen. Would be a brilliant place to take children, lots to see and do throughout the house and garden. Cockermouth is a cracking little place too!
