Great place to visit and buy from. Friendly service and good prices. Some good secondhand tools and a great museum.

Excellent place to visit, like a museum only without the planned displays and glass cases. Browse amongst the organised chaos, be entertained by the lack of Health & Safety of the 19th Century. Best of all, dogs are welcome.

I have been here a few times as I love old type shops. I am also a collector and restorer of old lamps to which this place has lots of as there hanging from the roof in the shop which is a fantastic sight to see. The museum is also well worth a visit as there is lots to see in there from old tools and speciality items such as old locks and other everyday items, Great to see some very early Leclanche wet cell batteries in there to. I had a long talk with the lady there about the exhibits and my hobbies. They have all sorts in the shop including a fantastic vintage gun display to. If you love old stuff I fully recommend this place and the museum is free to, Will come back here next year if I visit the lakes. I wish all hardware shops were like this as the place has a great historic feel, well done to the owners for creating a fantastic museum as well.

Thank Mike C

If it is good enough for Prince Charles, it is good enough for me.
A bit like going back in time to a "Chandlers" remember them.?
Smell of wood, oil, candles, paraffin etc. they even have '4 candles' in a bunch on the serving surface. If you want something for your home, from screws to saws, I bet they have it. Just look at the stacked drawers.
