Excellent accomodation and very welcoming and friendly hosts. Secure garage for our bikes which was no trouble and much appreciated. Breakfast was spot on each morning and set us all up for the day. A really enjoyable stay and hope to return soon, many thanks.

A tired walking family were made very welcome. Children delighted to have their own ensuite. Great solar powered shower, fairtrade tea and coffee, thought to B+B layout. Great firm bed! Lovely breakfast, and very kind welcome, and very kindly wrapped up a pair of left-behind glasses for us for the Sherpa van man.

We stayed here for a 2 night mid week break, and picked it for its central location and good reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. The Black Bull is just a stagger over the road, and Jean is a lovely, friendly host.
The room we had was large, comfortable and clean. We had a good nights sleep, and a very good breakfast which set us up for walking. Would certainly recommend this B&B and would definitely stay here again if we went to Coniston.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful two nights in room 2. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. Great bath and shower, perfect after a days walking. It is located in the village within walking distance of places to eat. Jean and David were very good hosts and the breakfast was very yummy! Good value for money. Good facilities, only thing I would had wanted was a DVD player. Overall a wonderful stay, would recommend to Anyone and would definitely return again.

Orchard cottage is a lovely place to stay, Jean is the perfect hostess, attentive enough to make you feel special but not intrusive. We were the only people staying but all the tables were laid up so we could pick were to eat your breakfast. Breakfast is a good selection of fruit, yogurt and cereal, toast which you can spread with home made honey, and a choice of cooked breakfast. We sat in the window looking over the beautifully maintained garden watching the birds it was teh perfect start to the day. There is a residents lounge which was much appreciated after being out for a few hours in the chilly autumn air. The room and ensuite were spotless. The room was spacious with planty of space for walking boots, extra coats etc. The fact that you can book online and pay by card at Orchard Cottage itself is an added bonus. We also took away some of Dave's honey and Jean's handmade cards. They also offer walking holidays and accomodation in Ambleside and we will defninitly be looking at these if Orchard Cottage is an indication of the high standards set by this lovely couple. Thank you

Room Tip: The twin room has a lovely view looking over the hills, its worth getting up early to watch the sun...

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Orchard Cottage. Location couldn't be better, right in the centre of the village, easy to find and loads of parking space. Its a perfect base for both walking and cycling. We didn't use the car for the whole 3 days. The room was bright, spotlessly clean, warm and extremely spacious with a bed the size of some rooms I've actually stayed in, and a shower with all the hot water and power you could hope for. Jean, David and Vicky are excellent hosts. We were well looked after, great breakfasts, secure garage space to store our bikes and plenty of space to dry out wet clothes, boots and rucksacks! Would definitely recommend Orchard Cottage as a place to stay.

The reviews say it all, this is nice B&B situated right in the centre of the village. We stayed for 2 nights and were well looked after. Considering the time of year, the room was well heated and comfortable. The breakfast really set us up for the day. All the village amenities are just a few minutes walking including some great pubs - the range of real ale at The Sun was magnificent as was the Black Bull which is the brewery tap for the Coniston Brewery. The food was good at the latter and less than 2 minutes walk from the B&B. we would have no hesitation in using it again.
