Owner description: Stunning Tarn Hows offers an accessible circular (1¾ miles) walk through beautiful countryside with majestic mountain views. A great place to walk and picnic, or to begin your wider Lake District countryside adventure. There are also rare Belted Galloway cattle and sturdy Herdwick sheep grazing by the tarn. There is a mobility scooter available for use for those who are less able to get around the Tarn.

Stumbled upon this place when we were driving through the Lake District. It is well worth a visit. There are fantastic views. The walk ways around the lake are man-made paths, which makes it very accessible. If you fancy a short walk and not a long trek, but still experience stunning views, then this place is for you.

Good path around the tarn and a stunning setting. Shame they want to charge to park a car anywhere in the area.

Tarn Hows is very attractive, but even in April was terribly busy. This might well be because there are lots of man-made paths (making it accessible to more people). It felt like a very attractive municipal park.

we just took the short walk round the tarn as the weather was low cloud , grey and drizzling with rain, it was a lovely walk and we were told the views are lovely but we couldn't see much that day.footpaths were flat in most parts we came acrossa. bit with slight hill and rocky underfoot but were not sure if we'd taken wrong path.small car park which we were told on a good day gets full quite quickly. It was National Trust owned and there was a van in the car park selling maps of the different walks to do round tarn hows and tea/coffee also toilets in car park were clean.
