Owner description: Stunning Tarn Hows offers an accessible circular (1¾ miles) walk through beautiful countryside with majestic mountain views. A great place to walk and picnic, or to begin your wider Lake District countryside adventure. There are also rare Belted Galloway cattle and sturdy Herdwick sheep grazing by the tarn. There is a mobility scooter available for use for those who are less able to get around the Tarn.

“Nice Peaceful Walk”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

We walked up from the Tom Gill car park alongside the Gill and around Tarn Hows. It was a lovely walk and very peaceful.

“A fab place”
Reviewed 17 May 2014 via mobile

Tarn how's is just a fantastic place to walk and take great photos. The national trust have done a truely excellent job of making a walk way around the lakes so everyone can enjoy it. If taking photos make sure you memory card is fairly empty as it soon will be full as so many different views are as they say just around the corner and don't forget to browse of the path there are many hidden gems to find like the reflecting lake by an old wooden building. Just enjoy your day

“Great stop, hard to find”
Reviewed 8 May 2014 via mobile

We were recommended to go here from our bed & breakfast. Loads of great reviews from everyone we talked too, however no one seemed to know the way. Took us awhile to find it, but once we did - so worth it!

“Nice ice cream”

Lovely hot day - a good spot for gentle walking. Route round the lake is well surfaced. Pricey NT car park but we walked here

“Beautiful Walk round Tarn Hows”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

From the descriptions we imagined this was going to be a desolate place. Actually there's a very good car park, toilet facilities, and well made signposted walk round the lake. The path is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs - though there are plenty of ups and downs.
The scenery is beautiful, be sure to take a camera.
