“A taste of adventure for the over 60s”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

I have visited Tarn How's on many occasions in the past when staying in the Lake District. This location has great scenic beauty and the great attraction of a relatively easy walk around the perimeter of the tarn. However on our recent visit my husband and I were introduced by the Park Ranger to their mobile buggies. As my husband has mobility problems this was an enormous success as we were able to slowly meander around the tarn enjoying the early morning tranquility. I suspect that this 'adventure' would be more difficult later in the day when there are many more walkers. Many thanks to the National Trust for this innovation which gave us an opportunity to fully enjoy this beautiful location together.

“Great to stretch the legs”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

This man-made beauty spot hits all the right notes if you want a slice of the Lake District without the struggle of a fell hike. a level although undulating path takes you around the tarns set dramatically against woodland and the rugged fells. Very accessible for those with pushchairs, wheelchairs or motorised buggies and at a circuit length of 1.5 miles almost everyone should make it round.

“Beautiful!”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

The lake is about a 15 minute drive from Hawkshead. The walk around the lake was great and took nearly 2 hours. There is an expensive national trust car park around the coprner which charges £4.40 for 2 hours!! More expensive than london!. The area was so peaceful and relaxing. The weather was also sunny which helped. Definitely reccommend this area.
