This farmhouse is set in beautiful grounds overlooking the lake in Coniston, The farmhouse is beautiful, well kept and clean, the food is lovely and reasonable prices,,,the little cottages have access to the private jetty, is a lovely peaceful and pretty setting. The farm was the setting of Arthur Ransomes "swallows and amazons"
Even if its for a light lunch this is well worth a little visit and a stroll around the grounds.

The hospitality was warm, welcoming and very friendly. The room in the Farmhouse was very clean, well stocked and the view over looking Coniston lake was stunning. Food was excellent and the service and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Would recommend for a chilled out short stay away.

Room Tip: Choose a room or cottage that over looks the Lake.

We stayed here over the Easter weekend in the Self Catering accommodation. The rooms were clean, the sitting and eating areas were a good size with plenty of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils which is great as we were catering for party of 20. The outside areas are lovely and the view of Coniston Water is beautiful - probably one of the the most amazing backdrops I have seen on my travels.
This is a working farm so there is s background noise etc of cows but it certainly didn't take anything away from a fantastic weekend.
There is no walk to be had along the Water on this side you have to go to Coniston to do this, also if you fancy the climb up The Old Man of Coniston then drive to the car park at the bottom of the trail and walk from there, the views dramatic.

Room Tip: All the rooms, beds and views are good so your choice is not limited.

Fantastic place to stay. The list of positives is long and arduous but all aspects are worth a mention. The location, just 2 miles round the North end of Coniston water is superb. The views are spectacular and it is ideally situated for walkers, explorers, photographers or those who just want peace and quiet.
The Farm is split into self catering cottages and a guest house, with a tearoom also on site and the feature of being able to walk down from the hillside (5 mins walk) to the lakeside and boat houses.
The rooms were all finished to a very high standard, with comfortable bed and furnishings in keeping with the rustic countryside environment. The gardens and property were well maintained and the tea/coffee facilities were very generously stocked. There were replacement items available on the upstairs landing and bowls of fruit available at several locations in passing.
I had 2 really restful night's sleep here which made me enthusiastic to get up and make the most of the area. The Full english breakfast was of good quality and well presented, with as much toast and tea/coffee as you wanted. We also had opportunity to look around the self catering cottages, which again were finished to a very good standard both upstairs and down.
I would passionately recommend Bank Ground to anyone visiting and looking for somewhere to stay, the welcome was as good as the facilities and I would seriously consider staying here again should I be lucky enough to be in the area in the future.

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 5, which overlooked the wonderfully maintained garden against the backdrop of the h...

My wife and I, my son, and some friends stayed at Bank Ground Farm whilst attending a wedding in Coniston. Having chosen the place by looking on the internet we could not believe how lucky we were to have found such a wonderful place. The rooms in the guest house were of a very high standard and very comfortable. The lounges on the ground floor were spacious and gave spectacular views over the lake. It was just a pity the weather was not kind to us. The full English breakfast was very acceptable and set us all up for the day ahead. Bank Ground Farm is not the cheapest but must be one of the best.

My partner and I spent 3 days at Bankground and absolutely loved every minute. The bed was so nice we almost slept through breakfast on the first day. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will be making the trip from Australia to visit this place again.

We spent 7 wonderful days at Bank Ground Farm in September exploring the beautiful villages and country side around Coniston. We dont often say this but it was all better than we expected. How can grass be greener than green and how can sheep walk when ther are so fat. Being from country Australia we are used to droughts and dust. The self catering loft was a delight to stay in and the stone farm buildings straight out of the picture book. We loved it all.
