Probably the best choice of cask beer around with Coniston Brewery in the building behind the pub.

Lots of memorabilia from Donald Campbell’s water speed record.

The interior is slightly dated but the food is good and the staff very welcoming.

Came in here many times whilst on a week's holiday to Coniston, with our teenage family and two dogs for drinks and food. Reasonably priced and food delicious. Very authentic olde worlde pub with helpful friendly staff.

Stayed here for 2 nights as a birthday treat. We had eaten in the pub on a previous trip to Conston and thought it looked nice. On arrival we were shown to a room in the annex which was quite small and very tired looking, lots of marks on the carpet and whoever put the curtains up had put them at the wrong windows with the result that one pair was too long and the others too short. The bathroom was ok, the shower was actually excellent, however the bed was very uncomfortable, we could feel every spring in the mattress. We ate in the pub both nights and even though it was very busy the food came out quickly and was very good. The breakfast was excellent, very tasty and good quality.I did mention our disappointment with the room on check out but did not receive much response.

What could be better, after a climb up the Old Man of Coniston than to stop off at the home of Bluebird beer. Excellent beer brewed around the back. Prices are good, service is excellent and after a hard climb on a warm day...heavenly.

Ate her on a Monday evening whilst the bar was very quiet. The drinks prices were ok. Service was ok. The food was ok. All-in-all the experience was ok. A shame that the open fire has been replaced with an electric fire. You'd expect a 'good ole' English pub from the outside but unfortunately inside the atmosphere is lacking.
