Myself and a couple of mates were doing the open water swim in Coniston on 20th August and needed somewhere to stay. The Old Pottery was in a great location within easy staggering distance of the pubs at Torver. The accommodation was just as nice as the pictures, and perfect for our needs.
Saturday early evening, there were 5 cars for the 6 of us that were staying, and coupled with the guests vehicles from the other cottages, did mean there was serious congestion in the area set aside for parking, but we all managed to squeeze in in the end!
Overall great value for money in a great location. Heartily recommended.
Had a really good time here with some friends.
Cottage was in a great location to get around the Lakes and a great size for our stay. It was all very clean and we had no issues with our stay at all.
Communication with the owner was quick and I would definitely recommend.
This lovely character cottage just outside Torver was perfect for our break - two double bedrooms (one with en-suite), bunk beds for the kids in the third bedroom, a large fully equipped kitchen (just bring your own food or eat out at one of the pubs a short distance away in Torver or Coniston!), and ample seating in the lounge. The squeaky upstairs floors added to the charm! It was an ideal base to access the activities we had planned - National Trust properties, Beatrix Potter, fell walks, etc. - and heading back at the end of the day was in the opposite direction to the traffic!
the old pottery torver, lovely location pubs close by and counrty walks short drive to the lakes and windimere
Just spent a rather pleasant three nights staying at the Old Pottery Cottage. As it says it has three bedrooms, two being doubles and the third housing a bunk bed. A mere 10 minute walk into Torver, and well placed to drive to Coniston and the surrounding area. The cottage affords access to several designated country walks in the area, one of which located behind the Church Inn will take you down to Coniston Water. The cottage has all that you need for a delightful time in the Lake District. A good size kitchen, living room and bedrooms this cottage easily accommodated the 6 of us and the two dogs - yes, they are pet friendly so a bonus if you want to bring the dog along. As this is accommodation only you will need to bring all food and toiletries with you. So don't forget the tea bags / coffee, sugar and milk, shampoo, conditioner etc - literally anything you might want as the nearest shop is in Coniston a 2 mile drive. The cottage is full of character and is in a group of three cottages so if there is opportunity to rent these at the same time you could go with a party greater than 6 and all be in the same area.
