A dog friendly a pub that was both charming and delightful. Excellent food accompanied by a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely return.

Tweedies has the best selection of beers in Grasmere, and possibly in The Lakes as a whole. The atmosphere is excellent with walkers, dogs and children all welcome and catered for. The food is more good pub grub rather than restaurant standard, although at restaurant prices. We visited on a Tue evening in August that was particularly quiet because of poor weather and were disappointed that despite this our first choice of main course had sold out. The pie I ordered as a second choice was more of a watery beef stew with a pastry crust. This was more than compensated for by the visit of a group of young fiddlers who gave an impromptu folk gig later in the evening.

Tweedies bar was full and we had no booking so we were accommodated in the hotel restaurant (same menu) Three of us had the beef and blue stilton pie special. One had the chicken dish and I had hand made linguine with pesto vegetables and mozarella. We had a bottle of Shiraz. We were all pleased with our meal and didn't wait too long given how busy they were. We didnt do starters or dessert as we were staying next door so went home for our dessert, coffee etc. Good value though and would go again.

Tucked away behind a hotel but we found this pub a few years ago and visit every time we return, fantastic food. It has been done up over the years but it remains a firm favourite of ours and it never disappoints. Wide selection of real ales and whiskers if you fancy a tipple.

We called on a Wednesday night and the pub side of Tweedies was pretty busy. No tables in the restaurant for at least an hour, so we perched on the corner of someone else's table... Not the best but... I ordered the breads and just two appetisers at the bar, which did take a time to arrive. On saying that the quality of the food was very good. I did find it a little pricey for pub grub. But you are in Grasmere.

If you want real ale and nice food... try Tweedies
