Cosy cafe on a quiet side street in Grasmere, serving an excellent selection of comforting snacks and meals, including amazing vegan sausage rolls and brownies!

A very nice friendly place to eat with a good selection of choices for vegetarians which is not always to be found. The breakfast was lovely and great value - you get a lot!! Good service and a nice relaxing place to eat. The non vegetarian breakfast was apparently good as well and again, great value. But, if you are a vegetarian (or vegan) and wanting somewhere to eat in Grasmere, try this first.

Really nice food here . Had the toad out of the hole, homemade Yorkshire pud, two delicious Cumbrian sausages on a pile of mash with fresh cooked veg ( the red cabbage was wonderfully flavoursome ) not too priced either .

Standing outisde her ein the pouring rain we decided on going in for lunch, the outisde board menu was also a big enticement. The staff could smile a little more though, but they're not rude so all is good, plus all is very prompt. I chose the Quesadilla which was superb, served with a little salad garnish and nachos with dips. The menu here is great, catering for everybody without being too exhausting. The cakes looked divine so I took away a piece of carrot cake (parking was nearly up, plus I was full), it was scrummy, very moist, made with sultanas not wicked walnuts! My partner took away a cumberland sos roll, which was very nice, not like shop bought rubbish that sticks to the roof of your mouth! The owner/cook was very friendly and helpful. Nicely set and laid out. Would like to go back and try of an evening.

We have often had lunch at Greens and have always enjoyed the vast array of choice, so on hearing they were also serving dinner, we were eager to try it.
The food was really lovely and the outstanding quality of all Greens food is the freshness and quality of the food produced. We started with bread and dips, which was a mini feast all on its own with beautifully baked white and darkly coloured wholemeal bread with mini cheese and chilli flavoured biscuits all served with olive oil & balsamic, a chilli jam dip and butter. This followed with Chicken Pie, which was really tasty with shortcrust pastry that was not too crusty but the perfect texture. My husband and son had toad in the hole with cumberland sausage and my 2 daughters had the Shepherds Pie and childrens sized Chicken Pie. My daughter sticking her fingers to wipe around her shepherds pie dish, gives you a clear idea of what she thought!
The 'Puddings' - and I use this word in the truest sense as they cant be called desserts but truly are 'Puddings'! were just delicious. Bakewell tart with cream, sticky toffee pudding, ginger toffee pudding and chocolate brownie, all served warm with ice cream - need I say more? A decadent finish to a really lovely meal.
The food is topped off by the 2 genuinely lovely owners who welcome you back with every visit. Their service is perfect, they are helpful and whilst it wasnt needed for us, the attention that they give their menu in relation to gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options is really excellent.
Thank you for many a lovely breakfast, lunch and dinner and as always, we shall return on our next visit to this special little village!
