“Great staff, great hot chocolate!”
Reviewed 7 March 2014

Baldry's Tea Room in the middle of Grasmere is a lovely café. We stayed in Grasmere for a night and during the afternoon stopped in here for a drink. I can fully recommend the Special Hot Chocolate - hot drink, marshmallows, thick cream, more marshmallows and then topped with chocolate shavings - yum! The chap who served us (no name badge that we could see, but he had tattoos down both arms) was a breath of fresh air. A sense of humour, chatty, very quick to deal with our order, he even sorted out my phone for me when I was having a problem getting their Wi-Fi signal. It makes a real difference when you go into a café and the staff have genuine smiles and a willingness to be as helpful as they can be.

“Baldrys Double Rarebit”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

Went to baldrys for a bite to eat and I've been told I had to try the rarebit at this place, there is like a small, medium and large rarebit to try, so like any normal person who likes/loves food, there was only 1 size for me.

For once the stories are true..
This dish was amazing!! You really don't have to eat for the rest of the day as this not only tastes amazing, but it also fills any spot that was empty..

Thank you very much to the young gentlemen that served us.. Your customer service skills is of a better than excellent standard!!

Will be back for more soon.

“Can't fault it!”
Reviewed 5 March 2014 via mobile

Came across this tea room 2 years ago by chance when staying in the Lake District, staying in Grasmere this time and have refunded to baldry's, it's better than we remembered, great lunches, cakes and drinks perfect for everyone.

“Simply the best!”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

We visit Baldry's on a regular basis and can't fault it.
Fast friendly service with a choice of food second to none. The "The stack' is just a delight!
able service with a smile and a bit of banter, but a high standard nonetheless.
The variety of tea cups and different types of sugar and the tea with a tea strainer just add to the experience.
Last time we were there I just watched what was going on and waiter was so helpful to everyone, the first thing he did with every group that came in with a dog was give the dog a handful of biscuits, no fuss no dramas. The place was heaving, people were still trying to get in, he asked them to come back in 10-15 minutes and there was a table for them.
Will always go back, a must if you've never been.

“Proper tea...with tea strainer!”
Reviewed 28 February 2014 via mobile

After a morning walking up very steep hills covered in snow, this was a welcome retreat from a hail shower. Cream tea for two was ordered and was quickly delivered to our table. Proper tea with real leaves, tea strainer, hot water to top up and china tea cups. Two massive scones, a huge pot of cream and what tasted like homemade jam. AMAZING!
