“One night - Not enough! - Super staff.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 January 2014

Only there for one night - special rate with small afternoon tea, bubbly before dinner. A classic room - lovely - spotlessly clean - huge comfortable bed, nice bathroom. The receptionist was exceptionally helpful when we booked over the phone the week before - offered an upgrade for £10 which was worth it. All the staff were so friendly - the waiters, even though busy had time for a chat and were all so pleasant! The dinner was excellent - the supplement for the scallops were worth it - best I've had anywhere. Wine was very reasonably priced and the service faultless. Would go back tomorrow. Have stayed at most of the hotels in Grasmere previously - this is now our 'favourite' - definitely recommended.

Room Tip: We had room 35 on the second floor - classic bedroom very comfortable lovely furnishings - view to...

I stayed for one night but wish it had been longer. The hotel is luxury with a friendly feel to it. I was in room 1 which was spacious, cosy, clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff were excellent and made my stay very speial indeed. Nothing was to much trouble. The log fire an added bonus but hard to tear yourself away from . The breakfast was excellent and again the service fantastic.Just wishedmy stay could have been for longer as there are many walks from the hotel. Hope to be back soon for longer

We stayed here 3 month after our wedding after an exhausting honeymoon - we really needed to rest! This hotel is like luxury all wrapped up one one! The rooms are spacious, cosy and clean and the beds have to be the most comfortable you'll find! The staff will do anything for you. The roaring log fires and reception rooms for relaxing could be home from home! The spa is perfect for relaxing after a long day or even a short day of walking! We went out of season and often had the place to ourselves in the evenings and even when shared with other guests it was still spacious and relaxing.
The breakfasts were the best we've had - how can a fry up taste 'good for you'?! And the evening meals in both restaurants were simply divine!
We've said we're going to return annually and I really hope we can :-)

We stayed at the Wordsworth on the 8th and 9th Jan. as a birthday treat. We had a very comfortable, traditional room with a four poster bed but a thoroughly modern bathroom...always a good combination. We ate in both nights and had two excellent meals. The breakfasts were equally good. The service provided by the staff was discreet, of a high standard and never stuffy. The hotel is well positioned for many extensive and beautiful walks in the area. We would recommend ‘The Wordsworth’ without hesitation.

We stayed at The Wordsworth from 2nd-5th January and booked a garden/fell view. We had room 8 which was a great size and had a large and airy bathroom. The room was very well dressed. The room had a massive window with two comfortable chairs to enjoy looking at the views.
We used the spa on two occasions and found the area to be well looked after, the pool is a good depth and it was very quiet while we were there.
We ate in the restaurant two nights and enjoyed the food, service and ambience. The staff were lovely, Olly a waiter in the restaurant had a great personality and we enjoyed the time he looked after us. This is a family business and it shows the staff are very good at what they do, and we felt that it was very much a team effort. Thank you to all the staff who looked after us, you made our break very special.
This is a hotel where you can relax, unwind, walk from your doorstop and just enjoy.
Breakfast was of a high standard, everything you need for the start of the day.
We hope to return to The Wordsworth and did try to book a couple of nights for April but one of the nights we required was already full. We will I'm sure try for others dates.
If you want a stress free break, look no further, The Wordsworth ticks all the boxes.
Many thanks the Sheldon's

we went for a 2 night break in grasmere. we love grasmere and for the last 3/4 years have gone there for short breaks every 2/3 months.
we've stayed in several hotels in the area but this was our first time at the wordsworth.
the only problem we've got, is that we don't think we will ever find anywhere else as good!

the staff - joe, the assistant manager, the reception staff, the restaurant staff, the bar staff, the house keeping staff are all amazing. nothing is too much trouble, they are all polite, friendly and helpful.

the location - perfect

the decor - perfect, modern, yet traditional. (i saw a review saying it needs updating - i disagree. the way it is, keeps it perfect with the traditional village feel, which other hotels lack.)

cleanliness - its like new! its so clean its perfect. the housekeeping staff deserve an award!!!

the rooms - we stayed in 34. think it was a standard room. a good size, massive bed, good bathroom, powerful shower - perfect!

food - firstly, the food and bar manager (i dont no his name but he's the spit of rochdale fc captain peter cavanagh) is the most friendly person u will meet. he and his staff are all first class. breakfast - faultless. evening meal - faultless. all i can say really. dont bother eating anywhere else!!

the bar - nice, clean, friendly, relaxing

spa and pool - didnt use so cant comment but looks good from the outside :)

its a great hotel, and if you can get it at the right price, make it ur first choice.

id like to move in.

thank you for a great stay and we hope to see u soon!

What a lovely place to go with your parents. Mine are in their mid eighties and my father can't walk very far. The hotel was extremely accommodating. We stayed between Christmas and New Year

We have a small dog and had a room on the ground floor

My parents stayed in room 5 on the first floor which was a delight. Photo attached. We loved the bay window in room 5. There is a lift to the first and second floor rooms

Parts of the hotel are looking a little worn but what is so noticeable in this hotel is how clean it is. No matter where you look there just isn't a speck of dust. Both rooms 1 and 5 were cleaned to the highest standard. I would give these staff a medal

Food in the signature restaurant was super. A bit too much for my parents so we went to the Dove Bistro on the second night for fish and chips which where also really good

Really enjoyed the breakfasts

All staff were very helpful. The young men in the breakfast room where particularly good

My only small niggle was that a couple of staff walked very quickly down the narrow corridors and made me feel like it was my job to jump out of their way - which I did

The grounds and views are stunning and I would love to take my old folk back during the summer and let them sit in the gardens.

Room Tip: We loved room 5 Photo attached
