We stayed here on a deal, and found a little piece of heaven. The room was good, the staff fantastic, (special mention must go to the restaurant team who must be the best there are), but the food was the best we have ever had in a hotel/restaurant. It was tasty, of fantastic quality, and beautifully presented. We do hope the chef and his team go round with a huge proud grin. They fully deserve to - they are the best. Reception staff to deserve a mention, where else do you go and the lady who books you in takes you to your room? A great touch. Will we be back? Without hesitation, it cannot come to soon!!

My friend and I visited The Wordsworth hotel the beginning of march, we booked a one night stay with a five course meal, cream tea, glass of fizz and £10 off a spa treatment each from Bestloved, I found this a better way to do than the vouchers as it emailed the hotel and you book with them directly.
On arrival to the hotel we were promptly checked in and taken to our 'courtyard' room (it was by no means in a courtyard although there wasn't really a view), it was lovely and clean and as it was also a little chilly outside it was also lovely and warm.
As we arrived mid afternoon we decided to have our cream tea first of all, although we skipped the tea and opted to have our fizz with the delicious warm scones ! We then went for a wander around Grasmere, its a very small village but very pretty, its just missing a local pub but we went into the best western around the corner, I wouldn't go back there in a hurry !! Terrible décor and very expensive bar food as I found out when I took a quick glance at the menu, there really was no atmosphere there. Anyway after our little walk we went back to the hotel for a freshen up before dinner. We opted for a later dinner of 8pm and were greeted with warm smiles on arrival, we were firstly brought canapés consisting of a few small nibbles which were delicious, our appetiser was then brought which consisted of a mushroom and stilton? foam, I don't like stilton but this was moreish ! Our starters the twice baked cheese soufflé and the guinea fowl were both delicious and for our mains we decided to both order something we liked and swap half way because everything looked so nice, we opted for the duck and the steak, the duck was amazing, the best I have ever had, the steak was so so, maybe we chose the wrong dish after the duck but the steak was bland and slightly chewy but it wasn't offending and we polished it off. To top the beautiful meal off we had the sharing dessert, this was also delicious I just wish I had more room for it !
After a fabulous nights sleep we were still quite full but made a small space for a huge cumbrian breakfast, I thought I might pop so we went for a lovely swim and Jacuzzi.
Our stay was brilliant and we loved everything about this lovely hotel, can't wait for the next visit !!

We had a lovely stay at the Wordworth Hotel this weekend! Afternoon cream tea, evening meal and Full English Breakfast included! 45 minutes down the road from Workington to Grasmere and it was just a lovely little break! The Hotel was in the centre of Grasmere and it was clean warm and very welcoming the staff were very helpful and room was lovely. The food was outstanding! A*****

Room Tip: We were in room 32 which meant a lot of very steep stairs not good if your old or disabled...there is a lift but you still have some stairs to climb.

Really well situated in the centre of Grasmere. Welcoming staff, especially in the restaurant, which is cosy with excellent food, as is the bistro attached if you are staying more than one night and want a less formal dining experience. The rooms many of which have undergone a re- furb are comfortable with nice bathrooms (have stayed here 3 times). The first time my friend and I stayed we were given the ground floor room suitable for disabled or wheel chair users, we felt it was lacking. The hotel was full that night but they moved us the second night to a lovely room which was of a better quality than we had booked. Plenty of lounge area for all guests to relax before and after dinner. The pool and jaccuzi are lovely after a long days walking. They often have great offers on.

Room Tip: unless you have to do not book the ground floor disabled room it has no view and looks out under the fire escape. The junior suite that over looks saint Oswalds church has a little balcony which is great at ant time of the year.

Stayed a few days ago with friends, we were all pleasantly impressed. Good location, great food, nice grounds & pool. However the overall thing that stood out was the friendliness & helpfulness of the staff...in a genuine and not in a plastic "have a nice day" way. Almost old fashioned hospitality ..

One of our group was travelling with an Assistance Dog & this was handled superbly, probably the best of any hotel visited & she visits a lot thro work etc. Staff related well & also sensitively allocated tables at breakfast/dinner that put us in a Quiet corner yes but not in any bad way...

The beds were comfy & I slept very well.
If I had to pick a fault it would be with a slightly weak coffee at breakfast but that is down to personal taste.
Two of our group have already rebooked..a lovely easy break away..
