We were at this hotel for a wedding. The hotel is clean, comfortable with stunning grounds. The staff are polite, helpful and accommodating.
The ceremony was held in the grounds under a metal arch, it needed a coat of paint.
The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented. Four had steak off the children's menu, three were good and one inedible.
The drinks at the bar were extortionate, but over all a beautiful wedding venue.
The staff compensate for the odd disappointment.
Would recommend.

My daughter's wedding was held at The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa in Grasmere in early July and we had exclusive use of the hotel and grounds for 24 hours which was fantastic.

The hotel is built in a traditional Lakeland stye and has an ambience of days gone by in some of the public rooms and areas but with contemporarily decorated and appointed bedrooms. The conservatory was a firm favourite with us and all our guests - a light airy room in which to mingle and relax. The weather was lovely - sunny and warm - and the marriage ceremony took place outside in the extensive and well manicured gardens. The gazebo accommodated the bride and groom during the ceremony and guests sat in rows in front of it - a real treat for us all.

The food was very good; 25 of us stayed the night before the wedding as well and the quality of the food impressed us. The staff - all of them - were second to none and really helped make our experience perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A big thank you to Catalin and staff for making the wedding planning process go smoothly from day 1 and helping overcome any hurdles we experienced. I would recommend the Wordsworth to anyone thinking of holding their wedding here, especially if you want somewhere to hire exclusively and that is great value. The setting is perfect, right in the centre of the village of Grasmere, and the food, service and rooms couldn't be bettered.

Room Tip: Try the Tennyson suite - beautiful beamed room.

I stayed here on 12.7.14 for 1 night. Room was lovely with en-suite (number 9) and I liked the added touch of fresh glass bottled water and Grasmere's on ginger biscuit! Pool, jacuzzi and sauna was lovely and breakfast was yummy! Staff = A* I would definitely stay here again!

This traditional Lakeland hotel is in central Grasmere which is great for walks from the doorstep and plenty of eateries. There's also a large complimentary car park which is really handy. We stopped for one night and paid £139 for a small twin which overlooked the car park. Although the room had tea and coffee making facilities there was no fridge or mini bar. The room was overly hot and consequently we had an uncomfortable night's sleep (although it was peaceful). The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were a welcome comfort at the end of a long day's walk. We thought that breakfast was slightly disappointing (the tables are very close together) and there was little thought given to presentation of the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. We weren't asked whether we'd like white or brown toast (we were brought a mixture) and we weren't asked if we wanted any sauces for the cooked breakfast. These are basic points which any establishment should get right.

We stayed for two nights mid week at the Wordsworth Hotel with our small dog this week and had a most peaceful and relaxing break in beautiful Grasmere. We stayed in room 40 which is at the back of the hotel - not much of a view but very easily accessed for anyone with mobility issues. We could park our car practically outside the room door. The room was very spacious with a huge and comfortable bed and a sofa. The room is fully equipped for anyone with a wheelchair to get around easily as is the wet room. We could access the gorgeous gardens straight from our bedroom and enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine - very peaceful.
We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was nicely presented and very good with excellent wine choices. On our second night we ate in the Hotel's Dove Bistro and were able to take our dog in with us for a lovely meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly
The hotel is right in the centre of the Village yet it felt so quiet and peaceful. We hope to visit again later this year and would recommend the hotel to our friends and family.

Room Tip: Rooms 1, 2 and 40 are all on the ground floor so if you have a dog with you they are excellent for a...

Our 2 night break was booked by our family as an anniversary gift. The reception staff were very welcoming and we found a complimentary bottle of wine in our room. All the staff were friendly but not intrusive and nothing was too much trouble. Food in the main restaurant was excellent. Our room was comfortable with a huge bed. We were at the back so no view, but we were out all day so the lack of view didn't matter. The only fly in the ointment was the error on the bill at checkout. We were charged again for our accommodation even though the break was paid in advance. We were refunded once they had found their error, but it did take the gloss off our anniversary celebration. Would I recommend/ go back? Yes, but make sure you have receipts for any advance payments you make.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrade, you might get lucky!

We visited just one night to this hotel on a amazon local deal. The reception were very friendly the room was lovely. We had cream tea & they even had gluten free scones which were delicious. Dinner was ok the starters & desserts were fantastic but the main course let it down the staff are all great and really looked after us. The breakfast was great with so much choice. We had a great time the location is fantastic for getting around the lakes. We would definitely return.
