We recently enjoyed a very pleasant two night stay in this friendly and well run hotel. From the time we arrived till the time we left we were made to feel welcome. The staff were friendly, helpful and very professional. The meals were superb with an excellent choice each night. The room may have been one of the smaller ones but it was well presented and had everything we needed. The lounge and dining areas have been renovated to a high standard and I'm sure the bedrooms that are being refurbished later this month will be of the same high standard.Being able to park in the grounds was a bonus.

We have recently returned home after five very agreeable days at the Grasmere Hotel. It was our second visit this year. The hotel is comfortable, the staff are very pleasant and helpful and the food is of a very high standard. We will certainly go again.

Room Tip: They are all very good.

We recently thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay at this very comfortable and well run hotel which is in an ideal situation close to the village. The meals were superb, with an excellent choice each night and beautifully presented. Breakfasts were equally as good. We wish we could have stayed longer and look forward to making a return visit.

We arrived on a Friday for a three night stay after an horrendous 6 hour journey up the M5 & M6. We were desperately trying to arrive in time for the pre-booked dinner and we got there at 8.15pm. We were greeted by Robin, the owner, who introduced himself and showed us to our table after offering to take our bags. The meal was superb very nicely presented and tasty and we enjoyed a nice bottle of chianti with this followed by coffee in the lounge. We enjoyed the meal so much that we invited 5 other friends over the next night.

The decor in the restaurant and lounge areas is very tasteful and classy and this will no doubt be the same with the rooms after the renovation in November.

Breakfast the next day introduced us to a beautiful view of the garden with the trees in their autumn colours and a river running behind the garden. Numerous birds were enjoying their breakfast too including nuthatches, chaffinches and a robin.

The service was very good with young and pleasant staff who were very efficient and blended into the background until needed.

The location of the hotel is very good for walking which we did on 2 of the 3 days and close to other shops and facilities.

I would recommend that you stay here for a visit and I plan to return at some stage in the new year.

We had a lovely 3 night stay despite less than fantastic weather, helped by a very warm welcome from the staff and owners of The Grasmere. The lounge and dining areas are very stylish and comfortable and we enjoyed looking out over the garden whilst eating. We were in the smallest of the rooms up on the second floor and although it would be too cramped for many, it was fine for us and in any case this room is to go in the forthcoming refurbishments. The breakfast is served at 8.30am which seemed a bit on the late side for us, but is plentiful and well cooked. The one evening meal we had was really delicious, beautifully presented and also offered excellent value for money. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very pleasant, well run, hotel that is situated in a beautiful part of the Lake District.

The owners of Grasmere really know how to run a B&B. The downstairs dining room is tastefully decorated in soft pastels with a beautiful chandelier. The view through the many windows to the green grass and flowers of the back yard just adds to the ambience. The lounge, where cocktails are served before dinner and tea and coffee after dinner, is spacious with many sofas and chairs. The breakfast was first rate with many wonderful choices. We opted for the dinner as well and I am so glad we did. Everything from the appetizer to dessert was extremely well prepared and the servers were very professional. Our room was on the first floor and had everything we needed and then some. It was very quiet too as the house sits back a bit from the road. I understand the bedrooms will be refurbished over the winter, but even as is, our room was lovely. The village of Grasmere is very pretty and do not miss the famous gingerbread store there.

Stayed here on the last leg of our honeymoon on arrival the staff were very helpful and friendly an excellent start.

The downstairs was beautiful recently refurbished and done very well indeed.

The rooms were tired, however a full renovation is commencing in November and if done to the same standard as downstairs will turn this hotel into a gem of a place.

The food was amazing well presented and well executed and the price of the stay was reasonable and worth tprickling for the food alone.

Overall lovely staff, lovely area and excellent service, brilliant.
