Stopped for a short break in March.

Friendly staff, fantastic food, clean well decorated rooms.

Comfortable, cosy lounges.

Everything you could possibly want from a small hotel. The location is good with ample free parking.

I have stayed here twice now (one night stop-overs on business) and it is simply excellent in every respect. Friendly staff, well decorated rooms, comfortable lounge and first class food. The four-course evening meal for £20 is fantastic value. Good fast free wi-fi coverage throughout the hotel, even in the second floor bedrooms. Don't look any further, you will not be disappointed!

We were lucky enough to find a cancellation at this hotel which we quickly snapped up on the strength of the other trip advisor reviews. The village of Grasmere is picture postcard pretty with lots of little teashops and flowers everywhere. The hotel is a beautiful building surrounded by a very attractive manicured garden with tables to sit out. It even has it's own river at the bottom providing soothing water sounds. The room whilst not the largest I have stayed in but was well decorated and furnished. The bathroom on the other hand was a spacious, modern, luxurious creation with wonderful pressure in the shower and a deep almost spa like bath. The breakfast/dinning room overlooks the garden and is very restful and I would have to say the food rivals all the 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The staff were on the whole friendly and were quick to rectify a few minor points we were were not 100% happy with. A 5 star hotel in their attitude when it counted.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Walpole room which had a fabulous bathroom. It is above the kitchen though so perh...

I just spent three days in The Grasmere Hotel, Grasmere, and had the best short break ever. We were welcomed warmly by the friendly staff and shown to our room and were given a short overview of the hotel in general plus restaurant times. The room was lovely, it was the garden room (Wordsworth) and the view was great plus the sun was shining and we were able to take advantage of the seating in the garden. Breakfast was very good with a great choice and the waiting staff were delightful, friendly and most helpful. Dinner at night was superb with excellent choice and cooked to perfection. Coffee in the warm intimate lounge afterwards was the perfect end to a fantastic day. We would highly recommend this delightful small hotel which made us feel quite at home and part of the hotel family. Will most certainly be back, hopefully for longer.
Thank you to Rob, Anton and all the staff.

Room Tip: We had the garden room on the ground floor due to my friend's slight immobility and it was delig...

It's hard to add other great things or comments about the Grasmere hotel that others including us have already said: the rooms are still well maintained, even after a good year or so after the remodelling, the food just gets better as my waistline shows , the wine list is great and really good value,( don't tell Rob or he may put them up), there have been a couple of staff changes , but they have blended in well with the rest of the team , and unless you had gotten to know The previous staff you would say that they had been there since day one.so it's well done for Rob & Anton for finding them and bringing them on stream to the same high standard and equally as important customer friendly as all the other staff and colleagues.
Any one who comes to stay and has dinner will not be disappointed and will soon be welcomed and become friends and almost part of the Grasmere Hotel family. ;With both the team and other guests.well done to everyone, we just wish we were quick enough to book in for Christmas 2014 but I'm sure all these guests must just block book year after year after year , maybe next time we will be lucky

Just returned from a 2 night break which confirmed everything I had read in previous reviews. An 11 bedroomed hotel which was very well appointed, as in the bedrooms, the guests lounge and the dining room, which were all pleasant and well decorated. Staff were all very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was superb, as was dinner. Rob, joint owner, was very pleasant and eager to assist with any requirements. Probably not a nicer village than Grasmere in the Lakes and this hotel will not disappoint.

Room Tip: We stayed in Shelley, which is excellent, overlooking garden and river. Just be aware that it is on...
