Set in a lovely quiet location, the road outside had more pedestrians than traffic.
We upgraded to a superior room which was really beautifully decorated with a view out towards the front, but felt it quite pricey for the size of the room.
Whilst there are many places to eat out in Grasmere, if you don’t take the offer of dinner for £15 you are really missing out on something. The dinner was truly one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time & had obviously been prepared by an extremely talented chef.
Unlike many hotels the wine list was sensibly priced.
Breakfast also was of a similar high standard. Serve yourself to cereals etc followed by cooked choices will fill you up for the rest of the day.
I really liked the fact food had been locally sourced, & appreciate that this isn’t always the cheapest option, but I fully support the ethics of this. When the lakes are so rich in produce why on earth eat food full of miles of travel.
A nice touch for walkers especially, is that the kitchen will fill flasks for you.
