This is a great place for lunch. The toasted cheese is well worth trying and the staff are very friendly. It's well worth a visit.

This place has gone a little downhill in the past year and the reduction in table numbers does make it even more cramped than before. The person who served us at 11 o'clock'ish in the morning wore scruffy, stained clothing (including his apron). He may have been a new member of staff but his attire was totally unacceptable from a hygiene (and visual) perspective.

went to this little cafe as it clearly displayed a 2013 award from tripadvisorin the window.
no chance!
the staff were rude and unprofessional, constantly arguing and moaning with each other. plus nevervwashed their hands even when sneezing!
the menu was pretty poor and they didnt have any of the good(ish) stuff in! then comes the price £7 for a pasty!!!
overall just shockingly poor!

A friend of ours told us we must visit this little cafe when we went to Grasmere. Very very disappointed. £6 for 2 slices of burnt cheese on toast. There are only 4 tables and it was very cramped. The gift shop was quirky. I can honestly say we wouldnt go back again. Far better places to eat in Grasmere.

Lovely looking tearoom with only 4 tables inside, which is much smaller than the last time we visited. Very friendly and helpful staff. Not the usual 'cheese with everything' menu choices which is refreshing, but is rather pricey, especially compared with other eateries in the village.
