Description: The Grasmere Tea Gardens provides a lovely respite after a long walk up the fells, or a quick enjoyable stop over for diverse coach parties. We offer an array of homemade soups, sandwiches, paninis, chilli, and jacket potatoes, as well as home baked cakes and scones. As well as a variety of teas and coffees, we serve a selection of cold beer and wine, and yummy soft serve ice-cream. Our staff provide quick and friendly service for those on a tight schedule, or beautiful views, rain or shine, from our outdoor terrace, overlooking the Grasmere Church and famous grave site of poet William Wordsworth.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely lunch here. I have gluten free food and I had a lovely piece of chocolate cake - my husbands scone looked lovely, but I could not have any of that!! The atmosphere was lovely and friendly.

I visited Grasmere Tea Gardens a few weeks ago when I came up to meet a friend in the Lakes. We're so glad we came to Grasmere for lunch as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this lovely cafe. I remember walking past this restaurant when it was under previous ownership but was never tempted to go in, it looked a little dark and dull, but now it seems it has changed hands and has had a well deserved make over! The weather was pleasant too, so my friend and I enjoyed our soup & sandwich combo (very reasonably priced I must add!) out on the gorgeous river terrace and watched the world go by.
They have a simple but tasty and attractive-looking menu of soup, sandwichs/paninis, jacket potatoes and a wide-spread choice of beautiful cakes and traybakes; I had Heather's famous flapjack - it most certainly should be! Deeeelicious. My friend had the chocolate fudge cake which she said was very yummy, and gluten-free too we found out in the end. The coffee was great too, what a smart little machine they have there. I insist you all to try it.
The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly; it is so lovely to be welcomed by a warm smile and "Hello!" when you visit somewhere. We felt very well-looked after and the young local lady had lots of information about the village where it seems she grew up; what a beautiful place to be brought up.
One more thing I must add is that the whole place is so incredibly clean!
Full marks all round, I will definitely visit again when I next come up to the Lake District. Thank you!

A friend and I called in for coffee and cake. My friend is gluten free, and we both found a good choice available. We ate outside and enjoyed the sunshine, and watched the river run by. Staff were efficient, pleasant and polite.

We enjoyed a delicious light lunch in this charming tearoom overlooking the river Rothay and St Oswald’s church, where William Wordsworth and his family are buried. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, served by welcoming and courteous staff. Eat outside on the patio (weather permitting), and soak up the atmosphere - you won’t be disappointed.
