Description: The Grasmere Tea Gardens provides a lovely respite after a long walk up the fells, or a quick enjoyable stop over for diverse coach parties. We offer an array of homemade soups, sandwiches, paninis, chilli, and jacket potatoes, as well as home baked cakes and scones. As well as a variety of teas and coffees, we serve a selection of cold beer and wine, and yummy soft serve ice-cream. Our staff provide quick and friendly service for those on a tight schedule, or beautiful views, rain or shine, from our outdoor terrace, overlooking the Grasmere Church and famous grave site of poet William Wordsworth.

Returned to the tea rooms after a great previous visit in 2011. It was Sunday lunchtime around 1pm. We opened the door and were greeted with a curt 'we're closed' from a lady behind the counter. This seemed odd as the place was full and there was no sign to say closed... Anyway, the lovely garden village garden centre were happy to serve us, across the road.
I realise some places have winter hours but you would think Grasmere on a Sunday would be an ideal time to open.
Won't be returning anytime soon.

We stopped by on a showery afternoon for a very welcome pot of tea for two. The cakes on the counter looked very appealing - only full tums from lunch stopped us tucking in! The staff were friendly and helpful and very efficient. We also loved the photos round the room. Thanks - we will be back on a sunny day to sit out in the garden.

We called today for lunch and the older lady who served us was very much less than helpful. She never made eye contact with either of us and as my friend is celiac we needed some help with the menu but she really couldn't be bothered and never smiled once. The place was busy with american tourists and they also get the same cold welcome. Such a shame. The food we had was good and the good looking male staff member was very helpful
