Description: The Grasmere Tea Gardens provides a lovely respite after a long walk up the fells, or a quick enjoyable stop over for diverse coach parties. We offer an array of homemade soups, sandwiches, paninis, chilli, and jacket potatoes, as well as home baked cakes and scones. As well as a variety of teas and coffees, we serve a selection of cold beer and wine, and yummy soft serve ice-cream. Our staff provide quick and friendly service for those on a tight schedule, or beautiful views, rain or shine, from our outdoor terrace, overlooking the Grasmere Church and famous grave site of poet William Wordsworth.

In central Grasmere we found this delightfully situated restaurant for lunch. We had to wait for an outside table as it was a beautiful hot day and the place was very popular, but it was worth waiting for.
The food was good, but the main attraction was the situation, overlooking the river and the Church on the other side of the river.
Good food , friendly staff, fantastic setting and wonderful weather. !

We ended up either getting afternoon tea or a light linch here three days in a row! Everything is well-prepared and tasty. Excellent prices too! Great, friendly staff.

An old family favourite, I was hopeful that the restaurant would still be a lovely place for lunch years after our last visit. If anything it's improved. Our baked potatoes were lovely with the chilli being the best I've tasted in a long time and the cakes tempting and large. Sit outside if you possibly can as the views of the river, the little church opposite and the entertaining jackdaws hopping about make it special.

We were at this restaurant for lunch and I am so happy we stumbled upon this lovely place. The food is very good and fresh. The staff is extremely warm and attentive. As well as very helpful. The seating outside, by the river, is awesome. Of course, the fearless crows are a pain but manageable. The restaurant goes back over a 100 years and the history of the restaurant makes the whole experience so charming. The choices on the menu are just about sufficient and certainly not extensive. Excellent cakes and pastries with some fresh juice options as well. It's a child friendly place and I really liked the homely, family like atmosphere. I guess we were lucky to be sitting out on a lovely sunny day and hence have great memories of a nice lunch.
