We offer an array of homemade soups, sandwiches, paninis, chilli, and jacket potatoes, as well as home baked cakes and scones. As well as a variety of teas and coffees, we serve a selection of cold beer and wine, and yummy soft serve ice-cream. Our staff provide quick and friendly service for those on a tight schedule, or beautiful views, rain or shine, from our outdoor terrace, overlooking the Grasmere Church and famous grave site of poet William Wordsworth.

“Coffee”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

I only went in for a coffee and ordered a black Americano as listed on the menu. I was given a black filter coffee. Would the management please note that an Americano is an expresso topped up with hot water. You need to have a proper coffee machine to make this and I couldn't see one behind the counter.

“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

Stopped off for lunch with the family, again pricey but not extortion. Food was all pretty good, the chilli was lovely. Panini was a big dry but ok. Lovely location next to the river, and although busy there was plenty of room around you. Would go again.

“Nothing wrong, but nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

We dropped in for elevenses on our way through Grasmere. A decent size with plenty of space for children and pushchairs, and a standard range of fare at the usual tourist prices. There wasn't anything wrong with the place - it was clean, decent choice of food, it wasn't cramped, but it wasn't that exciting either - it was like a million other cafes of the same ilk. So totally fine for a pit-stop but not one to particularly return to either. There was a lovely looking terrace at the back which looked very pleasant but the weather wasn't in our favour to sit out.

“Loved their scones”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

While on our Globus Celtic Highlights tour, we stopped at the Grasmere Tea Gardens. We shared a scone (my first experience with a scone). It was a sweet biscuit with dried fruit inside. When you add jam and whipped topping, you have a rich, wonderful pastry. Really good.

“Could be so much better”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

This place has such a great location yet they aren't open until late morning, so no breakfast, and close at 4.30pm, so early! In one week in Grasmere we managed to find it open once! On such a hot I was so surprised to find that they don't do ice coffee or tea! They have coffee/tea and ice, how hard can it be??? The selection of cold drink was poor, not everyone wants to drink hot tea/coffee or cold cider on hot days.

Could do better!
