“A Weekend to remember!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

This hotel has everything, rooms are nice in decor and size, we had a room overlooking the river, free internet, great garden to sit in, separate bar, and seating area, the food is to die for, and is absolute top quality, and finally the staff, so helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
If you want a recommendation this is it !

We were looking for a hotel where we could stay and not have to venture out for activities, a meal etc and this ticked all the boxes. We bought a deal from Living Social and had a very relaxing nights stay at the end of February.

Everything about the hotel is good quality, from the fixtures and furnishings to the service and food. We stayed in a standard room, Room 10, which another reviewer had complained about (although we too heard the clunky heating - nothing ear plugs didn't sort) - just goes to show how our expectations differ as we thought it was a great room, good size, nice big windows overlooking the park and hills to the left, huge comfy bed, nice bathroom with complimentary toiletries - just a shame there wasn't any bubble bath as the tub was enormous!

The highlights of our stay was both the spa, just the right size to while away a couple of hours, and the food. Our evening meal was divine, I recommend the cheese board (although small pieces it's yummy). Coffee and petit fours in the lounge was a nice touch, we were hoping for a cocktail afterwards but there was nobody around so after 20 minutes we decided to retire for the evening instead. Breakfast was equally as good, I opted for kippers after a selection of fruit, cereals and pastries. As others have said the dining room does lack some atmosphere, slightly louder 'background' music would help this.

Lots of parking available so really handy to drop the car off and walk a few minutes into Grasmere village or out onto the hills. Would love to return again as it's a great place to unwind

My Husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in March 2014 and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We had just got married so wanted a relaxing few days away.
We made a good choice, The Hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was spacious with a good bathroom and powerful shower. The bed was very comfy and you are supplied with a bottle of water and tea/coffee facilities.
Breakfast was adequate, with a choice of cooked dishes and buffet style cereal/fruit etc. The breakfast room needs some music playing as is very quiet!
Parking is out of the front of the Hotel and is free.
Guests have free use of the spa, located next to the Hotel. You can also pay extra to have certain treatments. The spa consists of a jacuzzi-which has nice views of the fields and sheep, a sauna, aromatherapy room and some heated beds. There was never many people in the spa so we were able to use all of the facilities.
The restaurant serves food in the evening but is quite pricey and not our sort of food so we ventured out in the evening and found some nice places to eat nearby!
Grasmere is very quiet with some great scenery so very relaxing!
I would definitely recommend this Hotel!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 16 which has a balcony!

Booked into this hotel just for one night and was very pleased with our room allocation. The room was large, very welll decorated with luxury bed lined and very well equipped with tea & filter coffee making facilities, luxury robes and slippers, iron & ironing board, professional hairdryer. Need I continue. Our room had two balconies, one overlooking the stream and one overlooking the wonderful garden. There is a luxury spa which is free of charge to guests and this was an added extra, extremely tasteful and very relaxing atmosphere. The staff were all exceptionally polite and professional. The food and service A+. Will definitely be going back there. Thank you Rothay Garden for a wonderful, albeit, short stay.

Room Tip: Room 18 is lovely.

Just back from a two night break. We stayed in a river suite which was very spacious and nicely decorated with a seating area and doors leading out to views over the river. There was champagne and chocolates in the room on arrival which was a lovely touch. The evening meals on both nights was superb as was breakfast. I don't agree at all with previous reviews that found the staff to be starchy. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating they really could not have done any more to make our stay more enjoyable. I would recommend anyone to stay here especially if you enjoy good food. I will not hesitate to return to this hotel.

I spent a wonderful birthday weekend with my family in the delightful hotel.
However I feel as if I don't want to share it with anyone in the danger of it becoming too popular.
The daffodils in the garden and the lovely spar were a real treat.
The restaurant is a large glass conservatory looking out on to a wonderful garden.
We will be back soon.

Room Tip: The rooms are a case of you get what you pay for in regard to size. We were more than happy with out...

This was a weekend break for my birthday. We arrived on the Friday evening and were very pleased with our ground floor suite. The room was stylishly decorated and had everything you would expect including tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary box of chocolates and an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe! We had sliding doors onto a terrace which overlooked the river. The dinner that evening was excellent with plenty of choice and food cooked and presented to a very high standard. The breakfast next morning was equally good. The staff were efficient, if a little 'starchy'. We didn't use the spa as the weather turned out to be beautiful and we were out all day Saturday and Sunday. The dinner on Saturday night was also excellent. A lovely place on the edge of Grasmere and central for Windermere and surrounds.

Room Tip: River view suites recommended.
