We have stayed at the Rothay Garden hotel many times in previous years and decided to try it again since the refurbishment, so we booked to stay in the Garden Suite in March. It was a beautiful suite, spotlessly clean. The staff in Reception and the rest of the hotel were very welcoming and helpful. What excellent standard the hotel is, I cannot praise it enough. The food was exceptional along with the spa. It must certainly be the very best hotel in the Lake District. What a fantastic atmosphere this hotel has.

Room Tip: The Garden suite is spacious and airy and looks onto the lovely gardens

Well what can I say excellent excellent excellent that's for the room, hospitality, and food. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left was just exceptional. Our room was very well maintained and cleaned to the highest standard. We booked full board and both evening meals were presented and cooked to the highest standard. It was lovely to sit in the dining room looking up onto the fells as the sun set. The spa was very welcome after a days walking in the rain. When we left we booked to return at the end of august. Would recommend this hotel and have done to family and friends.

Stayed two nights DBB through Travelzoo. Room although small was very well equipped with spacious bathroom, room 25. It was facing road but was very quiet allowing sleep with window open. From the moment we arrived until we left every member of staff we came across was welcoming, very friendly and helpful.
Dining room afforded good views over gardens, tables well spaced and the food was of a very high standard.
There is outdoor seating to enjoy a relaxing drink in the well kept gardens. We will definitely return but hope to get a room at the back with a balcony.

Room Tip: Try for a rear room with balcony that gets the sun late afternoon.

The hotel is set in its own grounds alongside a small river in the village of Grasmere. We stayed for one night at the start of June in a suite. The room was very nice and had all the ameneties you would expect but some of the detais in the room/balcony were lacking considering the costs per night. The balcony over looked the river and had some excellent views away from the hotel however the balcont itself looked like it had not been cleaned in a long while and some of the wood holding the glass in place on the bathroom window had fallen out and was laying on the roof.

The food in the restaurant was superb and well worth the money, the restaurant is not very busy and offers a quiet intermate feel with excellent views out onto the gardens.

We usedthe spa facilities on the afternoon we arrived. The facilities are pesented very nicely however for the size of hotel they are a little small with only 4 heat beds avaliable to use if you are not in the sauna, small jaquzzzi or aroma room. The aroma room for me was a waste of space basically a room with a very subtle smell personally I could not see the point.

The hotel is very nice overall but not sure it is worth the price. I will trying an alternative next time I am in the Lakes.
