“An outstanding B&B”
Reviewed 3 September 2014

Raise View is a delightful Cumbrian stone-built house with stunning views of the local fells. The welcome is excellent, as is the accommodation. We needed an early room, to change for a wedding, which was absolutely no problem, even though the place was fully-booked. A really friendly, interested couple gave us lots of local tips, a ghreat place to sleep, and an awesome breakfast.

Grasmere itself is of course charming, but not overrun, and clearly still a local's place to be.

Highly recommended to get away from everyday life.

Room Tip: room at the back have the best views, but all are good.

Dear John

Thank you for your kind words it was not a problem to check in early Grasmere is such a favourite wedding venue and we were happy to help.
We are always happy to suggest walks and places to eat. The village has so many great walks and excellent eating places right on our door step.
Glad you enjoyed our breakfast also.

Many thanks once again.

Best wishes

Whilst the location and rooms are great it's the standards and warm welcome that makes Raise View stand out from the crowd. We took three rooms here recently for a short stay and can't recommend it enough. The breakfast was first class, bedrooms where a good size with all the necessary facilities but the lounge was our favourite, dark, warm and cosy and a great place to chill just before, or after dinner. We have stayed in many places locally and can't recommend Raise Place enough and wouldn't hesitate staying again.

This was one best B&Bs which I have stayed in recently. Our cosy room was of a medium size, attractively decorated, comfortable and providied a peaceful nights sleep. The breakfast served was of the standard English variety and our perfect hosts Karen and John were friendly and very helpful with lots of information on local walks etc.

Just back from a two night stay at Raise View, we can certainly understand how it's the number 1 rated B&B in Grasmere. It's ideally situated in a lovely location, the accommodation is really clean and comfortable, breakfasts were great, and John and Karen were so friendly. The next time we're back at Grasmere we'll definitely try to get booked in here again.

Room Tip: We were in a room at the rear, good size with wonderful views towards Helm Crag.

I have stayed here twice while walking the coast to coast trail and both visits have been a delight. The only drawback for a walker is the lack of a bath in the en suite but this is too common an occurrence in B and Bs on this route to affect the rating. The rooms are stylish and comfortable and there is a real sense of the elegance that the owners claim to be aiming for. Despite this they are well able to cater for walkers and did a good job of drying our boots. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts provide good choice and good cooking.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back allow you to wake up to mountain views.

Hi Lesley

It was great to see you again on your C2C adventure and also to meet you son. We try our best to look after our walking guests and there is nothing worse than wet boots.
We just have the one room with a bath sorry about that.
I was nice of you to mention how you thought our home was elegant we do try hard to add a few extra touches and it's always appreciated when guests notice these things.
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your walk and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Best wishes

When you find a place that is like home from home why would you want to stay anywhere else, we don't feel as if we are going back to a B&B we feel as we are going back to meet good friends. Karen are John are such good hosts and they make you feel as if you are aprt of the family.
All you can say is the B&B is great, the rooms are great and the breakfast is fantastic and John and Karen top it all off perfectly. See you guys next year

Room Tip: We choose a rrom at the back of the hotel just for the great views of the hills, but have stayed at...

It was great to see you both again and thank you once again for taking the trouble to write a wonderful review about your stay.

We are very lucky to have so many guests who are now friends and it's always nice for Karen and I to catch up with all your news.
Our Helm Crag room does enjoy a truly magical view and you almost feel like you could touch the Lion & The Lamb.

Looking forward to seeing you again next year.

Very late last second booking and space was available. Welcoming hosts, reasonable size room with magnificent views over the hills behind.
Good breakfast and mostly calm stay.
The only little nagging thing was the down pipe from the toilet of the room above, I like babbling brooks, but the falling sounds of water in the down pipe is not it.
Would I recommend, yes, location is great for visiting the Lakes and it is a lovely town.

Dear Guest

Karen and I were delighted you decided to stay with us at the last minute and that you enjoyed your stay and found us to be welcoming hosts.
I can only apologise with regard to the downpipe it's has not been mentioned before but I will certainly look into it for the comfort of future guests.

Many thanks once again it was a pleasure to have meet you.

Kindest regards
