I've been watching the progress of the rebuilding of this hotel and was dying to visit. We've been this weekend and I'm struggling with what to say. It's clear a lot of money has been spent on this project but I feel the marketing /targeting of this hotel is very confused.

The decor is lovely but just not in keeping with the surrounding countryside. Everything is over-lit and far too bright. As a couple of other reviewers have said it would be fine as a de luxe airport hotel where you stayed one night prior to a holiday but somehow just not right in the amazing setting of Grasmere. However the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely pillows and bed linen. Nowhere to hang damp clothes or rest muddy boots so they stayed in the car

The bar arrangement is bizarre - the downstairs bar residents bar wasn't open all weekend... why?.... so pre dinner drinks were in the Walkers bar which was like a motorway service area. We had after dinner drinks in the sitting room but that was very soul-less more like a business class airport lounge

Breakfast was tasty but the buffet was set up in a room off the dining area and reminded me of big work functions where the whole company has been put in a room on its own away from other guests.

After a long walk on Saturday, we got back to the hotel ready to relax tired muscles in the spa but we were told there were too many people in so we couldn't go in. i would have thought that expectations in a Lake District hotel would be that people would want to utilise the spa at the end of a day's walking so it shouldn't be a surprise if a lot of people arrive at once and should be planned for
.
We ate in the restaurant the second night of our stay and the food was very VERY good.

I really wanted to love this hotel but there's too many things not quite right so I doubt we'll be back

Room Tip: Room 115 is directly above an extractor fan which comes on and off all night so avoid if you are a l...

We stayed for 2 nights over a weekend in a Lake View room. The room was immaculate, the bathroom was equipped to a very high spec and the beds were THE most comfortable ever. Both nights we dined in the restaurant and ate great food.
The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to our family and friends and we can't wait to go again!

We stayed at the Daffodil for a two night break. (KGB deals) Firstly the hotel is stunning. Fabulous location for Grasmere Village. The decor is wonderful, the finest products have been used inside and out. Our room was lovely and spacious (fells view which we didn't expect for our deal) bathroom and decor in the room extremely modern with everything well laid out and thought of. The room was a little cold at times. We ate in the restaurant on our first night - no complaints about the food but we were the only couple in!!! This was such a shame as this did affect the ambience, we would have had a dessert, and drink in the bar, but no-one was in there either! On our second day (after a long walk on the fells) we decided to try the spa. Again beautifully kitted out and great for relaxing after a hard walk. Breakfasts on both mornings were fantastic you couldn't fault it. Service was faultless too. My only complaint ( and it isn't really a complaint) is that the hotel seemed "sole less' which is such a shame. There wasn't any atmosphere. The hotel would be amazing as a city centre venue but I'm not quite sure it has that 'cozy' feel you expect from a lakes hotel. I really do hope this alters as time goes on as the location is great and it has a lot to offer.

Firstly a special mention for Sarah on reservations, she was extremely helpful and nothing was to much trouble for her, even showing our friends and us around the hotel on our arrival. The standard of the rooms and the facilities hard to beat. The breakfast was very good, plenty of choice for everyone. Lovely location. We will certainly return to this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

We had booked a Master Suite as a treat, however it was too near to the road which was quite busy and in our opinion not good value for the money. My husband paid a quick visit to the receptionist Kerryn who was extremely helpful and we relocated to a Senior suite room 331. It was very quiet, a nice view of the Lake and we were very happy.
The 7ft bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was huge with a lovely bath and double shower. As it is a new Hotel there are a few minor things that need tweaking such as a glass for the bathrooms to put toothbrushes in and a soap dish as leaving it on the top creates a soapy mess.
The staff in the hotel are lovely and friendly with happy smiling faces. The restaurant food was good value for money and well cooked and presented well. Nothing was too much trouble. The spa was good, again Natalie & Gosha the two therapists I had were wonderful. Overall it was a great break and we would go back. It's modern, contemporary and clean. the most fun was walking up the c0rridors and looking at Limited prints by Sue Mccartney Snape. They are funny and quirky and best of all for sale.
