We have just returned from a 2 night break at the Daffodil and after many years of visits to the Lakes, staying in hotels, apartments and cottages we have found the ideal base. I remember the building as a tired, shabby hotel in days gone by, but the change that has now taken place is remarkable. Step inside to a modern, impressive hotel with all the luxuries you could wish for. From the first welcome in reception to the restaurant staff you realise you are in a family owned hotel who care about you. My husband has walking difficulties and needs 16 hour a day oxygen so finding somewhere that can help us with these issues and also provide a break for me is something we strive to find. At the Daffodil, all our needs were handled with such care and attention, it put other hotels in the shade. Our room was large with a full length window view to the lake. The bathroom had a huge bath and a separate shower. The bed was enormous and so comfortable. The food was excellent, with very good service - if a little pricey. But we have to pay to have all the other bonus points! Sitting on the terrace, watching the sun go down over the fells with a glass of wine was just magic. Thank you - we will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lake or the vale of Grasmere have super views.

Just back home after a lovely couple of days staying at this lovely hotel located just outside the village of a Grasmere. We stayed in a superior lake view room and I just wish I could wake up to that view every morning. Room was spotless, hotel very quiet at night, bed very comfortable - no complaints.

We spent valentines at the Daffodil and was very impressed with the hotel and spa. The bed was the biggest bed i have ever slept in. The shower was great. Grasmere is only a short walk away with some nice coffee shops etc. The lake view was very impressive (shame it was raining) would be very nice summer. Food was ok

Stayed here for a Thursday Friday visit was greeted by a friendly helpful receptionist who was very informative. We had lake view room which had lovely views out over the Lake to the fell beyond the room was comfortable warm and well furnished with some nice touches like water and excellent coffee not instant the spa was great but book ahead and our treatment s were veery good breakfast although buffet was fantastic even the eggs which are usually rubbery were fine and the quality of the ingredients like bacon and sausage very high. Parking plentiful and an easy walk to Grasmere or up onto the Fells so you don't have to travel to walk anywhere very enjoyable

Room Tip: Lake view best

We decided to spend two nights at this hotel based simply from the look of their website originally. To me first impressions go a long way, and with a large percentage of online customers their website was very well presented.

Parking - The hotel has plenty of parking, so this shouldn't be an issue. Even when the hotel was fully booked.

Reception - Our check in was very smooth, I believe it was the restaurant manager who was on reception. He gave us plenty of information about the hotel - The key bits you need when checking in.

Room - We opted for a Senior Suite, the room was HUGE! A 7ft Emperor bed, a large corner suite, table and chairs, and a bathroom larger than most holiday inn rooms!

The bed really is a key feature and I've never experienced such a good nights sleep!

The room has ample extra's, such as the large 42" tv with compatible inputs, and fully stocked with Molton Brown soaps, shampoo, shower ge;, vanity kit, nail file etc.

Food - We had breakfast and dinner both days in the hotel, the food is Michelin star quality. There is a good variety on the menu and the chef throws in his own little secrets.

There is an exceptional wine list, and the restaurant manager has a great wealth of knowledge when it comes to choosing one

Unfortunately we didn't get to use the spa - however we are looking to go back in April, so wait for the next review to include that!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite..If budget is key, then a Lake view is essential.

After a couple of previous stays at weekends which were faultless, we decided to treat ourselves again with a stay at the lakes mid-week. The hotel offers unrivalled quality, facilities and luxurious accommodation in the area. We choose a superior room without a lake view, the room was spacious and very comfortable. The view although looking over the rear car park, actually had excellent views of the hills and the room had large French doors which opened up - which was an added bonus. The room had all the facilities you could wish for, as well as quality toiletries (Molten Brown), as well as good internet connection. The hotel was quiet busy with a function, and is also close to the main road - however there was very little noise in our room, ideal if you don't want to be disturbed.

We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, both where excellent. The evening menu had a number of options available - all sounded amazing. We settled for rump steak and lamb - the presentation and quality we excellent. The wine selection is also good, we enjoyed a wonderful red. The service was excellent and the staff actually remember us from a previous visit and even what drinks we had - very impressive given it was over a month since our last visit. I couldn't resist the stick toffee pudding (which I defiantly recommend!!) which was an indulgent end to our meal.

Following a very restful sleep we entered the restaurant for breakfast, there is huge selection for all tastes, both cooked and continental - the bread and pastries were delicious. A lot of the dishes had ingredients which were locally
sourced, the staff again were very knowledgable and happy to give further details.

All in all a wonderful stay - go on treat yourself :)

Just returned with my partner. We are in love with this place and so glad our friend told us about it.
Every aspect was perfect. We are not big into walking the hills and so just love to sit around reading snoozing and relaxing in the Spa - oh and eating and drinking. We ticked all of these boxes and went home relaxed and happy! Cannot wait to return.
