Me and my daughter went to the daffodil hotel on the detox by day devil by night package. Stayed in a mountain view room which was lovely. Really comfy beds very clean rooms and lovely french doors. The spa was lovely as was the facial all clean and very professional and relaxed atmosphere. Three course meal and breakfast was excellent. Must mention the amazing restaurant staff service was excellent and all very friendly. We had the most wonderful time. Thank you daffodil hotel.

The good bits firstly. The location is excellent. On the lake and a few minutes walk into Grasmere village. The staff throughout were excellent particularly on reception. Rooms were clean if a little functional. Big bathroom though which was good. Don't bother with anything other than a lake view as otherwise you could just be staying in another hotel anywhere. The spa was good. Well equipped although no natural light. It had a little "underground" feel. Worth treating yourself nonetheless.

The less good was breakfast. Service was a little chaotic. Understaffed and a little disorganised. Food not bad though.

A family owned and run hotel it seems. To be supported. With some improvements can be excellent.

Room Tip: Lake view a must. Room 325 is partial view but in truth you pretty much get the view

Just returned from a one night stay for our wedding anniversary which all in all was fantastic we booked direct through the hotel website and got a great half price sunday rate. we had a lovely suite with a gorgeous lake view the bed is the most comfortable we have stayed in and the molton brown smellys were a nice touch room was very spacious and quiet. We used the spa which is on the small size but was not busy at all so was stil very relaxing. We dined in the restaurant on the evening and the food was 1st class overall the place is a gem the staff are outstanding and very helpful from the reception staff and restaurant to the cleaners you see I the corridors ! We will definitely be back soon.

Stayed here recently after visiting Grasmere earlier in the afternoon. We decided to try and stay overnight despite having no toiletries or spare clothing and so made a last minute booking through booking.com. We got a great rate for the room and on check-in the front desk upgraded us to a lake view room. The front desk was also extremely helpful during check-in after explaining our last minute decision.
The room itself was of a very high specification, very comfortable king size bed and a modern shower and toilet. the room had a Juliet balcony with a view to the lake which in the morning had mist rising from it....a truly beautiful sight. Breakfast buffet was wholesome and hearty, with an excellent choice of foods.
All in all a really great place to stay and is highly recommended

Room Tip: If you can spend the extra money and book a room with a lake view, the view is amazing in the mornin...

My husband and I stayed at The Daffodil for one night as an early anniversary present. This ws our first time to The Lakes and what a beautiful part of the country to visit, will be back very soon.

The Daffodil has a perfect location over Lake Grasmere off the main road from Windermere. The hotel although dull on the exterior is very fresh and modern throughout. We checked in slightly early but were our room by the friendly receptionist. We had upgraded to a Junior Suite which was a fab light spotlessly clean room with a great view over the lake. Loved the massive comfortable bed and the Molton Brown smellies.... apart from this not really sure the upgrade was worth paying for. But even so, we had a really comfortable stay in the room.

We had an afternoon drink in the bar which was very relaxing and loved all the different artwork around the bar area. We didn't stay in the hotel for an evening meal but breakfast was delicious! Lots of choice and really good quality food.

On the Sunday after a few hours discovering the surrounding Lakes we used the spa and had pre booked a treatment. The spa was very small but it wasn't too busy during the times we used it. Our mud rasual treatment was just ok..... glad I booked this on an offer and didn't pay full price. We were shown the room by a therapist and given a quick overview of our self application treatment. We were left with a sparse amount of exfoliator and mud and a broken shower! But the steam chamber was very relaxing so was a nice end to a busy weekend. But I do feel the spa needs a little improvement and the pool was really cold!!

Overall enjoyable stay but it wasn't quite the luxury I expected for the price we paid. If we did visit again I wouldn't opt for an upgraded room. Just another small gripe that the bar area was very under-staffed on the Sunday and the waiter/barman had difficulties managing. We waited at least 30 minutes for a cappuccino! Might have just been a bad day.

I stayed here one night which was enough!!

The hotel feels cheap compared to say Rudding Park in Harrogate which is the same price and is a fantastic hotel.

This hotel definitely wants to be something it isn't.

To be honest it doesn't ever really warrant writing a review. Suffice to say if you want a relaxing nights sleep and to be left in peace without a team of workers interrupting your peace then do t stay here. Oh and valley view also means road view!!

All in all pretty rubbish.

Stayed with my fiancée for 3 nights last week Thursday to Sunday. I'd pre booked a Junior Suite direct with the Daffodil website. Rate was reduced as part of the 30% off in March promotion. Asked for a nice quiet room with a good view as others who had stayed recommended on Trip Advisor.
We were given room 327 which certainly had a great double-aspect view of the lake.....and the road.....which it was right beside. Whilst not busy at 3 in the afternoon it was obvious from the amount of noise coming through the badly fitted double glazing that once the Windermere to Keswick road did get busy in the early mornings, which it does, that we'd be woken which we didn't fancy.

The rather cheap-looking roller blinds didn't fit the windows at all and would do little to stop the early morning light filtering through and there were two small patches of exposed plaster on the walls near the windows.
Not really good enough for a suite for which I'd paid £500, all of the above left us rather disappointed.

We went to reception and very politely asked to change rooms. The only lake-view room left was a down-grade to a far smaller Superior Double, and after seeing room 203, a vast improvement in noise and quality of fittings and finish, we went back to reception to change.....To be told that because I had prepaid, even though their room wasn't up to scratch, I wasn't entitled to a refund of the difference between the two rooms.
The receptionist did agree to give us a credit of just under £60 to use on hotel facilities including the bar and restaurant, but to be honest I'd have been prepared to pay to upgrade to a better room but she couldn't offer this.

As first impressions go, a real let down, particularly after a 4 hour drive. Room 327 should really be better finished given the room-rate and the hotel's own description.

We were determined not to let this overshadow our stay, and with that issue aside, have to say, food and service in the dining room is very good with lots of local produce on offer. We ate there twice during our stay and can recommend both the venison and the lamb. Breakfast is also very good with a full selection in the buffet all kept freshly stocked and hot.

We had 3 good night's sleep, all the staff we encountered were polite, friendly and helpful.

Just two other niggles: The in-room lighting is provided entirely by low energy down lighters with no dimmer control. When first switched on they're too dark, then they become too bright to really relax - A simple addition to the room we had would be a standard-lamp. Plenty of space in the corner for one. There is apparently a note somewhere saying can ask for more lights, but one really shouldn't have to.

Also, the sitting room, a separate room off the dining room and the corridor approaching the dining room is quite bizarre. Despite the lighting, books and games, it really doesn't feel like somewhere we'd like to spend time relaxing not helped by the hard uncomfortable sofas apparently made for people with very short legs.

An ultra-contemporary 4* hotel in rural surroundings that feels it's trying to be 5*....Almost there but no cigar just yet.

Great service, great food, but let down in a couple of key areas in particular that business at the beginning with not being able to enjoy the suite we booked and paid for and being downgraded with no refund and no opportunity to upgrade with payment....A bit sharp-practice we felt. Couldn't quite get over that I'm afraid.

Room Tip: If you're booking a Junior Suite and want a good night's sleep, and window coverings that fi...
