The building is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, the staff at the reception desk were very helpful and friendly. The bed is extremely comfortable and very roomy, however the doors to each room are not fitted with ' soft closures' therefore every time a guest let the door close it slammed very loudly. The food was fabulous, and very we'll presented, however an awful lot of the staff needed an awful lot of training some of which is very basic training. Saturday night everything was quite good but Sunday night ( my husbands birthday the reason for the trip) was extremely disappointing. No background music, no table candles and no soft lighting to create an ambience. The general over all standard was in my opinion not great. For me it spoilt everything, it cost us £600 for 2 nights stay and 2 evenings A La Carte menu. I work in the hospitality industry and I guess I notice lots of things but I don't expect restaurant staff to carry clean polished glass with fingers dipped inside the glass itself and only carrying 2 at a time. There was a tray on the dumb waiter, why did she not use it. The staff need to do role playing so they can at least try to understand where this criticism is coming from.

Wow!! From the moment we drove into Grasmare. Beautiful quaint village with lots to offer! Within a few minutes walk of the hotel.
The hotel has the best spot in the village right on the lake, we were given room 301 as we were celebrating our anniversary well the room itself was outstanding with views over the lake and a south facing balcony. The junior suite was immaculate not a fault to be found! Bed is very comfy and massive, towels pure white very thick and heavy, our dinning experience both days at breakfast and dinner was outstanding both food and service! Nothing too much trouble. Spa facilities wonderful extremely clean and modern with very helpful staff, we had a treatment each and was worth every penny! Reception staff very friendly and helpful.....
This is a very beautiful hotel which isn't part of a chain. It's unique decor and cleanliness is continued throughout the whole hotel.
Thank you Daffodil Hotel and Spa we had an amazing stay with you!! Hope to see you soon!

An impressive, large hotel stood in beautiful grounds by a small lake. Stayed here for a family wedding over the bank holiday weekend with our two year old daughter.
We travelled a long way to the hotel and they got the room ready a few hours earlier than normally allowed for check in (3pm). Our room was large , well decorated and clean. It had a huge bed in which was extremely comfortable and a sofa bed for our daughter. The little extras in this hotel made it exceptional. There was a towel made into the shape of a dog on our daughters bed and the tea and coffee facilities were excellent.
The view from our room was beautiful! A view of the lake and grounds.
The food at the hotel was lovely but there was some mix ups with some members of staff not understanding our orders at one point.
The staff were attentive, helpful and polite and went out of their way to help you.
The breakfast was a buffet style and was exceptional! Very impressive seen as they were catering for large numbers of people.
The hotel ran the wedding in an excellent and well organised manner and the day flowed so smoothly.
It was not cheap to stay here but the quality of food , room and service definitely made it ok paying the money!
They have a gorgeous spa here but I can't comment on it as we didn't use it.
Excellent hotel and we will return!

An unexpected ,surprise, late booking of this hotel proved a wonderful experience. The location on the edge of Grasmere village could not be better and close enough to walk in to the village centre. We stayed in room 228 which we paid a little extra for as it had a view of the Lake. A huge room with a lovely bay window on the second floor overlooking the terrace and the Lake. The bed was so big and comfortable with lovely crisp bed linen. There is no bath in the room but the shower certainly made up for that and the bathroom was immaculate with lovely towels and toiletries.
We had dinner in the restaurant and were delighted with it. It was not as expensive as we thought it may have been. Staff in the restaurant could not have been more helpful or nicer and there were certainly enough staff on duty to ensure smooth running of the place. Breakfasts were served as a help yourself buffet which was lovely and we also tried the to order food which was lovely as well.
After a hard day out walking and after our showers we decided rather than get dressed again we ordered room service dinner. Huge meaty burgers and chips were great..
The hotel from the outside is built of Cumbrian stone and makes it look very traditional. On the inside it is the opposite, it is very contemporary design with amazing carpeting and artwork throughout.
We would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a very relaxing quality hotel. The Spa is wonderful and the staff and pool are spotlessly clean. Once the car was finally parked we took advantage of the Bar and also as the weather was lovely we sat on the terrace and watched the sun setting over Grasmere village followed by a short walk to the edge of the Lake. Just luxury.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are a must if staying in the Lake district!

I was really looking forward to my short visit to Grasmere and I loved the village and had great weather. However I found the hotel to be a bit of a let down. On our first night at dinner the service wasn't good and we were told this was due to new staff and the fact that the waiter couldn't speak English but this wasn't true. Some if the staff really need training especially as other aspects if the hotel are very good. Good comfortable rooms. I was also surprised that guests are charged £20 per day for use of the spa facilities and had I known this I would have chosen another hotel. Grasmere is a lovely spot but I suggest you should try another hotel if you want a great holiday.

Decided to treat ourselves by booking up at the Daffodil & we were not disappointed!
Away from the hustle & bustle of the main tourist centres, it offers a base to explore or to hideaway from the rat race, whichever you choose.
Excellent service from professional staff & excellent facilities. Try the spa, bar or the restaurant out & you'll see what I mean.
We'll definitely return again when we feel like recharging our batteries! :-)

Room Tip: We stayed in room 207 which gave a valley view towards Grasmere village from one window & the ed...
