“We'll be back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2012

We enjoyed a three day stay in this lovely, relaxed hotel, with friendly staff. Our room was number four, on the ground floor. My hubby has Parkinson's and our greyhound accompanies us on our holidays - so this was very convenient.
The food was excellent and the service fast and efficient; the room was very clean and pleasant, and the grounds are lovely.
Grasmere is a lovely village and this hotel is a gem in the heart of it.... we'll be back!

My daughter and her husband got married here on 24th May, and everything was perfect. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The decor of the hotel is so lovely and the way in which the room was transformed from a formal venue for the ceremony into a beautiful, elegant dining space and later into a bar for the evening was just magical. The gardens were a beautiful setting for photographs. The hotel offered a perfect blend of formality and informality which is so important for a wedding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we have all been left with wonderful memories of a perfect day.

We stayed at Dale Lodge as part of a groupon deal, staying for three nights.

The hotel is in the centre of Grasmere and is finished to a high standard.

Although our room was not over big, it was decorated nicely and over looked the gardens and the bathroom was a good size.

The breakfast was very good, together with the service. There only seemed a couple of staff who worked at the hotel but was excellent service.

The pub attached to the hotel - Tweedies - is a great place for trying Real Ales. The pub does food (though a little on the expensive side for a pub), we had a few snacks which were good in size and tasting. The pub does a quiz on a Thursday starting around 9.30pm.

Dale Lodge is a excellent base for discovering the Lakes. The only downside to Grasmere is the lack of proper local pubs - the couple there is are attached to hotels.

We would definitely recommend Dale Lodge, especially for couples of any age.

We had our wedding at Dale Lodge on the 5th June and even though it rained all day it really was perfect in every way. The staff went out of their way to ensure that everyone had a great day and couldn't do enough to help us. On the morning of the wedding I was getting ready in the bridal suite with six bridesmaids and the waitresses attended to our every need. The food was outstanding from breakfast through till the evening buffet and most guests commented on this. Our only regret is that we cannot do it all again. We have stayed in several hotels/b&bs in the area and this really is a cut above the rest.

Just had 2 days at Dale Lodge for my sisters wedding and the whole experience was fantastic, the rooms were of a high quality and the service was impecable, all staff were very well turned out, polite and very professional. The breakfasts are of the highest quality and the adjoining restaurant and bar were A+ with a fine selection of real ales and wines on offer, i will definately recommend a visit.

John Hands

Room Tip: All of high quality including the adjacent mews which have their own hot tub!!!

It was our first time in Grasmere and we booked the hotel with a voucher deal. Both exceeded our expectations. Hotel was great, impressive drive, lovely interior, friendly staff and really tasty and well presented breakfast. Room was standard double so on the small side but had comfy bed and nice bathroom with Molton Brown products. We used Tweedies for trying out real ales and recommend 'a bat' if not sure what to drink.Bar staff were really friendly and helpful. Lots of nice places to eat near hotel and would recommend 'Potted Out' for nice pizza.

Having just stayed here on a voucher deal; I can only express how pleased I was with the stay at the Dale Lodge. To be upgraded to a a Mews rooms was a bonus..An excellent use of the space has been well planned..providing a fridge and plastic glasses for hot tub use is good. We ate in Tweedies on both nights, quality of food was very good..although noted staff on first night were rather rushed and too busy. Grasmere is a lovely spot but probably a little quiet with little to do in the evening..another pub would be good. Overall, the Dale Lodge has been refurbed to a superb standard with a lovely made to order fresh breakfast (sausages were too spicy for me)..but scrambled egg was gorgeous.

Room Tip: Mews is lovely although compact but hot tub and outdoor space does compensate.
