“A homely, warm atmosphere. Completely wonderful!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

I travelled to Grasmere with my boyfriend for a quick, overnight research trip. We arrived much earlier than check in but the extremely polite and welcoming staff were happy to allow me to park outside the hotel until the check in time. Our room was very clean and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was luxurious and offered Molton Brown toiletries. We chose to eat in Tweedies bar (the restaurant at Dale Lodge) and were extremely impressed with the outstanding food and lovely service. The meal was quite expensive, but definitely worth it for a special occasion. After the meal, we took our drinks through to the sitting room; it didn't feel like a hotel at all, more like a big family house. The price of the room included a choice of cooked breakfasts which, unfortunately, we didn't eat because we were still full from the night before! However, we enjoyed the fresh juice and croissants in a lovely breakfast room. We would both recommend Dale Lodge and can't wait to return for another visit!

We booked this hotel for one night, as our preferred hotel was full. On the day we were to arrive we read some very negative views on this hotel. However our fears were soon laid aside as our room was small but clean and recently decorated. The staff were pleasant at breakfast and we could not fault the food. The grounds are very pleasant to walk around. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Room nine was small, but we could manage even with the single beds. Also it is on the ground floor...

Just stayed one night in room 10 and it was lovely. The room Is beautifully decorated and a large size with tea and coffee making facility. The bed was really comfy and I had a good nights sleep we ate in Tweedies bar attached to the hotel where they sell cask ales and fine wine and also have a lovely restaurant and the food was really good and staff were lovely. Best of all was the full English breakfast that was superb. Definitely stay again as it was really idyllic. Well done.

Our group of four booked in for dinner at the Lodge Restaurant at Dale Lodge Hotel, while visiting the area. There was only one other group in the dining room, so it was't very busy.

We were asked to arrive half an hour after our preferred time. It then took 45 minutes for our order to be taken. I think we were expected to chill out and drink, but we had booked in because we were hungry...

Once the food arrived it was good, as expected, but perhaps dinner there is an entire evening's performance, and not simply a meal?

We found The Dale Lodge to be a very good hotel. It is situated in an ideal spot for all the village amenities.the food was very good and we got a good deal for a mid-week stay.We had a nice view of the grounds from our front room and it was no problem that we were a little early for check in !

Room Tip: Nice view of the grounds from the front rooms above reception !

This is actually a very nice hotel, with friendly staff. We had a beautiful room, everything was nice and relaxed even tranquil the whole experience was feeling pretty good, however this was soon going to change!! The very next day of our three day booking a rather large Marquee was erected just below our single pained bedroom window, apparently it was Tweedies 10th birthday and there was live music from endless ‘bands’ Anyway the upshot was that went on from midday until 40 mins after midnight then the actual noise from people still there finally stopped just after 2 am!! All in all we couldn’t use our room to relax in for 14 hours!! Totally unacceptable and after lots of complaining we finally cut our stay short and came home. due to this we have to rate this as really bad.

Room Tip: Not one near Tweedies bar, or when an event is planned!!

Friendly and helpful staff.

My daughters wedding was held there and they did an excellent job with all the arrangements.

Would always stay here whenever in the area.

Right across the road from St Nicolas' Church where William Wordsworth is buried.

Room Tip: Room 10 is wonderful!
