“Steep walk up but worth it”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

Wainwright describes the walk up Helm Crag as an ideal quick evening walk on your arrival to Grasmere. Let me tell you that for the majority of trippers this will be a steep climb; however the path is clearly found and the views on the way up and from the top a well worth it.

“Great Peak for Families”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

What a great peak to introduce children into fell walking, can also link it to Easedale Tarn. Fantasic views for miles around

“An enjoyable walk”
Reviewed 16 March 2014 via mobile

Started out on this walk on a gloriously sunny day (could of done with the sun cream!) Begins with a leisurely stroll through Grasmere past Allan Bank until you reach the foot of Helm Crag when it turns a tad steeper. Well worth the trek to the top to see the lion and the lamb close up and also the wonderful view down to Grasmere and the lake beyond.

“The Lion and The Lamb”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

From certain angles, the rock formation at the top of Helm Crag looks like a lion and a lamb sitting peacefully together. The main access to the path is near the Lancrigg Vegetarian Restaurant, just on the edge of Grasmere, overlooking the stunningly beautiful Easedale. Getting to the top is a delightful walk -- uphill, of course. When there, a person can climb onto the lion and the lamb; the scenery is fantastic!

“Alone”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

Being slow walkers a few fellow walkers passed us and after that we had the ridge, the hale, rain, gale and valley on the way back to ourselves. Cold, wet hands and boots. Constantly walking in water. Luckily it is a rocky top to have something to hang onto in the wind. It probably gets very busy in good weather but on a winter mid week day it is a lovely walk.
