Used Superbreak to book a weekend at a good price. Room beautiful, food excellent, staff friendly. Very relaxing. We will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms on ground floor are excellent

Visited the Swan inn for my wife's birthday. Great staff , very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Great location on the edge of the vist. We stayed in room 46, which was at the back of the hotel and had great views. Will be back in the future.

Room Tip: Room's 45, 46 & 47 at the back of the hotel

We stayed at the Swan last year and had a lovely time. We went again last weekend and were once again treated well by the staff. The room was quite, clean and comfortable. The bed was big and cosy. The food is absolutely wonderful. We had the lamb shank on one of the evenings and there was hardly any fat on it at all, Beautiful. The pea mash was a bit dry however a tasty and filling meal. The second night I had the steak which was cooked to my liking and was succulent and tender. The breakfast had everything that you would want from prunes to bacon and eggs cooked just the way you like them. Sitting in the lounge in the evening by the log fire was exceptional. I had pots of teas and hubby had the lager, very restful and I think we shall make this one of our favourite places to visit. Thank you Swan,

Room Tip: Room 11 was a good size and the bed was comfy, although it will depend on what type of bed you like...

We were staying in a nearby hotel and went out for a meal, we stopped off at the Swan and their main restaurant was closed but the service we received from Leigh and Richard was exceptional, we asked for a table and requested food from the main restaurant menu and it was exquisite so we would recommend to anyone visiting, we would highly rate the chefs Robert and Tony for the food they presented it was deliciaous

The hotel is just a short walk outside Grasmere and on the main road between Ambleside and Keswick. This did not put us off as our room was at the back of the hotel and we were not disturbed by traffic noise.
Dinner and breakfast were both very good and on the second night we had a light snack in the bar area, it was perfectly adequate.
Spent the weekend walking in dreadful weather above Grasmere and the hotel was always a welcome end to the day.

Room Tip: Go for a room on the south side of the rear of the hotel.

the hotel was comfortable. but the staff seemed rushed off there feet and needed more help the remote control did not work to the television but they could not find a nother one to work so that was the end of that on checking out two days later we were told there is a code they have to put in the remote control to make it work but they dont know the code. the food is good and good portions.but if you have problems they seem to busy to help. we dont think we will go back to this hotel again,

We had 3 rooms at this hotel. 2 doubles and 1 single. We were told we were upgraded, a room with a 4poster bed. First impression was very good. The other 2 rooms were the same and at the back of the hotel and were very good. Large beds, clean a spacious. When we retired to bed in the 4 poster we realised how small the bed was! The bathroom was very tired. And it stank of sewage. We had to keep the bathroom door shut. As we were ready for bed it was a little late to complain. We did tell reception in the morning but to no avail really.
The dinner was disappointing, 2 of us had uncooked potatoes, 1 had uncooked tuna. We sent them back. The potatoes came back with a film over them and were disgusting. We were told that was the way the chef cooked them! The waitress was not very accomodating. It was the start of a 4 day break with the family and a little disappointing.
